Something very dear to my heart

This is something I've wanted to do since I was a mere child and realized that the age had passed for anyone to be interested in adopting me. Now as an adult the fire is still in my heart and lately I can feel it begin to burn. I want to begin the process and have been reading some material, but I do not know yet when....where to start.
I do believe that I will give a child or two a home. I remember keenly what it felt like to yearn for a home...a family....love.

Help me celebrate and get involved.

November is National Adoption Month

"For finding your mother, there's one certain test. You must look for the creature who loves you the best."
- Little Miss Spider, by David Kirk

For my family, the quote above has symbolized adoption ever since my daughter, Maylee, came home from China nine years ago. We celebrate National Adoption Month by re-reading the many adoption-centered books we've collected over the years, including A Mother for Choco and I Love You Like Crazy Cakes. Our newest choice, Motherbridge of Love from Barefoot Books, puts adoption into words that children can understand. Click here to listen to this beautiful poem. Enjoy this celebration of families everywhere!

This beautiful poem celebrates the bond between parent and child in a special way. Through the exchanges between a little Chinese girl and her mother, Motherbridge of Love offers a poignant and inspiring message to parents and children all over the world.
