About Me

I'm Colette and this is my little spot on the web to share my thoughts and meet other great families.
.

You can contact me here if you desire. calliemist (at) yahoo (dot) com.

Below is a bit more about me.

** I am a SAHM with two wonderful children and I feel very blessed to be their mother. I live in Louisiana but I'm from the Caribbean islands.

** God is constant in my everyday thoughts and my all belongs to HIM.

**True love exists only in fairytales but in real life it is the love between a parent and child

** I would rather receive a potted plant than flowers, but that doesn't mean I wont appreciate a thoughtful gesture of sweet smelling gorgeousness every now and then.

** I'm a music fan. I have to tap a strand to whatever is playing. I loooove to dance and listen to music. Its in me bones!!!When I grow up, I'll be a ballroom dancer.

** I'll hug you if I am touched by your spirit. I love to give hugs period and also because no one hugged me when I was a child.

** I love chins

** I talk to my babies like they are another adult listening and interacting with me. I love breastfeeding my babies and wish I could have done it longer. I did not wean them...it just faded out.

It would be great to have a best friend to just be down with no matter how I"m feeling. (update 2010 - I found that friend in one of my SIL - she is like my twin. A Godsend.)

** I'm a bookworm, I read just about everything!

** I want to adopt children. Always have had this desire since I was a child.

** I am still afraid of very loud thunders, I'd rather not be alone when its happening. (Now that I have kids, I'm brave for them and now it's not so scary)

** I clean when I'm angry and frustrated

I also love to do product reviews and giveaways that are family friendly, educational and great for the environment.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is out light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~ Marianne Williamson ~ from A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of a Course in Miracles ~

Q. What’s your name and blog? What other information would you like to share?

My name is Colette. Beautiful French name, huh? I still have no idea how my mother came up with it but I love it! I think I should ask her :) I am SAHM of two children: A little girl who just turned three and a boy who will turn five in the next two months! I hope to adopt two children into our family and also to have more biological children. I am very shy but if put into situations where I need to speak up and lead, I will have no problem outwardly. I love to dance and I love music. I can't have a favorite song or artist because I love such a wide variety of music. When I grow up I want to be a dancer and a diplomat.
My blog's name is JamericanSpice.

Q. Why did you choose that name for your blog?

I wanted to join both my cultures. I choose part of the word for my birth country 'Jamaica' and part from my home country 'America' and added a little spice representing the me in it all. Hence 'JamericanSpice.'

Q. Why did you start blogging?

I wanted to start writing about my life in journal form because someone told me it would help in my healing, but alas, my blog is now wide open and I find it hard to share so much of the raw details of my life growing up without parents in the orphanages in my country. I still might do it, but it's taking some thought. It's easier to write these things being obscured.

Q. What kind of stuff do you cover with your blog? Is there a specific genre you write about or is the sky the limit?

That's where the spice comes in. I like to share a little bit of everything and so I don't have a specific genre. I resist the constant barrage of articles that tells me that this is how I should run my blog or I'm not a success if I'm not into this or that or have that domain etc. I allow myself to blog freely.

Q. What is one must read post that you have written {Include Link}?

Hmm, I'll have to go check :)
I did and these are a few of the ones that means the most to me.

These are my favorite and most read:

Q. Name one thing you love about your blogging job.

I do it on my own time and I get to meet some wonderful people from all over the world! I couldn't get to travel to so many places otherwise.

Q. Name one thing you’re not quite fond of about your blogging job.

Sometimes I don't get to visit everyone the same day or week and so it get's stretched out but I still save every comment so that I can return visits and share the love. I wish I was sorta super person so that I could return visits and comments on time, but there are so many people that it's hard to do that at all.

Q. What’s one random fact about you?

I won a dance competition at a club once :) I was first out of 30 people.

Q. Inspiration comes in many forms for different people. What inspires you?

Music has a way of inspiring me. There's always a language in music that is good for any situation that I'm going through.

Q. Where else can we find you(Personal Website, Etsy Shop, Twitter, Facebook, Etc.)?

It seems I am so connected now. *laughs*. You can always find me at these places:

Colette, This is Cindy aka TheXortr again! I just read most of your "about" page! Girl, we have soooo much in common!!!! You just wouldn't believe how much! I don't have much on my "about" page, need to do that one of these days! I loved reading all about you and getting to know you more! After your post to Monday's Music Moves Me, I just had to come back to check your blog out more.

Seems I'm rather "connected" these days too! LOL Or I'm trying to be, can't keep up very well! LOL I need a "to-do" list each day just to remember to connect with all my social networking! LOL

If you don't mind I'm gonna invite you to be my FB friend. I also have a FB page for ministry which God has given me to and for women. It's called simply HOPE Ministries. Hearts of Perfect Establishment.
So good to meet you, look forward to getting to know you better!

God bless!
