Aloha Friday: Leashes

****************************************************************
Kailani says "In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response."

If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link on Kailani's blog. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

So my question is:

Would you use a leash on your child/ren? Have you used one or are you using one now?

I have always been very anti-kid leash, but now that I have a toddler I underderstand how helpful they can be for safety purposes. My son is a pretty good listener but we have a neighbor with a son the same age who is WILD and runs away a lot. She uses one on him and I can't blame her. I think it is important to keep your kid safe.

I used one on a cruise ship when myine was 2--it was great for safety. Otherwise...no. I have an adhd kid and I considered it, but, no.

NO! Would you want to be leashed?

Have a great Friday!

Oh don't get me started!!! They're children not animals!!! There are SO many reasons why I oppose this but for starters one time at the mall this lady had her lets say, two year old on a leash. Well mama wanted to stop and talk to a friend, daughter got bored went to run and well snapped back and landed smack down on the hard tiled floors of the mall!!! I was disgusted. Whatever happened to strollers and hand holding!!!???

Aacckkkk! NO - never used one when the kids were little and I still don't really like the idea of using one - like Steph4916 said - "They're children not animals"!!

I never used one and never would. I'm just not comfortable with it. They're not animals.

I used one on my son because it was a great way to let him get his energy out but not get too far ahead of us. I didn't use it much on daughter because she was a different personality. Would I use it again? Probably. No, kids are not animals but between letting my kid scream his lungs out or letting him down & walk? Hmmm, think I'll go w/ safety first & use that leash.

I've always thought it was a brilliant idea. Now that I have a child of my own, we'll see. I certainly don't mind if other people do. Who can say what their kids are like!

My parents tried a leash on my sister once and she got right out of it. I really think kids and dogs should not be treated the same way!

I used to think that they were horrible. Of course, then my second son ran off in a store and we could not find him. He was quick and was in a clothing rack and laughing. That night we did research and bought a monkey harness for him. He loves it and it has been wonderful to have at places.

I personally don't think I would, but I would never judge those who do. I would much rather see a child safe and sometimes that is the only way to keep them safe.

I'm the mother of four children ages 13, 11, 9, and 18 mos. I have never used a leash om my older children nor do I plan to use one on my toddler. When I see children with leashes on it looks very odd to me. I do understand the purpose but, I just don't agree with that method of restraining your child. I use my stroller when I need to and if I'm in a store and I don't use the stroller my toddler is in my arms.

even though i can see where they would come in handy for certain situations, i would never, and have never, used a leash for my children.

I have never used a leash for my children. There was one incident though where it would have been good to do so and that was when I was traveling by Greyhound with three children under 4 and no one to help me with luggage etc.

I've never had a leash, but believe me, I've seriously considered it. My son is all over the place, it's insane. I'd worry if we went somewhere crowded and I lost him.
