Monday Mingle: November 8th 2009 - Watching the wind stir as we wait for Storm Ida

If you'd like to join in the fun, do a short vlog on your blog answering the week's questions (however many you choose), post the above button on your site and link up at Eighty MPH Mom. Visit the other participants, learn about them and have fun! Trust me, if I can do it, then you can. Look down there at the amateur :). Plus you can send in your questions to Jennifer for the next mingle. Come on jump in!

THIS WEEK'S QUESTIONS:

1.  What actor or singer did you have a crush on growing up?
{- submitted by Shannon from The Mommy Files}

I had a crush on Sean Connery. That accent and poise and being a gentleman will do it for me anytime.
Singer: I honestly don't know. I'm sure I did have a crush at one point or another with many of them. Just like my music varieties, I don't like any one singer.

2. How did you meet your husband or boyfriend?
{- submitted by Shannon from The Mommy Files}

(Long story short)
We were spades buddies. Then, good friends. He was in a relationship. I listend when things were hard. He had a bad break up. We were friends for years after that. He needed to heal. He flew to come visit with me in my country a couple times. Before one of those trips (he said he was afraid to wait), he called on the phone and propose. He visited again. I migrated to his country (I didn't know my family then when we met. I met my mother and h/siblings just mere 3 months before I migrated), we got married and 6 years and 2 kids later we are still going strong.

3. If you could time travel to the past or the future, which would you choose and why?
{- submitted by Greg from Telling Dad}

I would travel to the past. I did not grow up with my mother. unfortunate circumstances. So, if I could time travel, I'd go back to when I was born until age 3, just to see how my mother treated me/loved me/whatever. I just want to have that time. I was taken from her at age 3 or so and I have no memory of her. We have a good relationship now since we've met, but what's missing, cannot be replaced and if I could travel back, maybe that knowing would do something for my soul, that little space where something is missing.

4. Have you seen any good movies lately? Which ones are worth seeing? (other than kiddy movies)

Cloudy with a chance of meatballs. This is a very good movie. It addresses quite a few things on life and family.

Blood Diamonds: Brought me to tears.

Little girl lost: The Delimar Vera Story - This tore me up. This is a true story.

5. What are your plans for Thanksgiving?

We'll stay home. I will cook. I was hoping that by this time, this year, we would have a foster/adopted child at home to celebrate with, but alas, no. Maybe soon.

We met a lady through charity and if God makes my heart agree (lots of little stuff making me wary), then I'll invite her over to share with us.

We wont travel to see in-laws this year. It is expensive and we are saving up for a visit to AK next year to attend dh brother's graduation.

 We are under a hurricane watch here in LA. I'm checking my list and we'll see how things go. I hope you all will have a great week.

*HUGS*

Sean Connery! That's interesting. There is something about him that is endearing yes.

It sounds like you and your husband were meant to be!! It's always nice to hear how people started out :)

I think your reasons to want to travel to the past are sweet and make complete sense! Oh and hopefully next year you'll have your wish of a foster or adopted child - I'll pray that it all works out.

Stay safe! Hurricane, eep! :/

That made me kinda sad to think about traveling to the past. I wish you had your answers. I'm sure it's hard sometimes.

The trip to Alaska sounds wonderful. How incredibly exciting!

Mrs. Fish aka Two Fish November 8, 2009 11:32 PM

Oh Sean Connery is so sexy, svelte, and suave, I too think he is Yummy.

I love your stories, so rich in love. So happy the way you and hubby met!

And the time traveling makes me so sad, how bittersweet to have lost and then have her come back to you.

How fun to go to Alaska! Enjoy and stay safe!

Fantastic answers and I adore the written form, thank you. I got teary eyed reading about why you would travel back in time. (hugs)

Sean Connery is quite studly LOL.

Like me, you want to go back in time...both of us for the same, but very different reasons. That was an interesting question!

That is a neat story about you and DH. I just know you were a wonderful friend to him, as you are to all of us...how could he resist?

A Hurricane watch? Oh no! I hope you and your family are okay.

Thank you for mingling!!

I love how you met your husband! So cute! And AMEN to Sean Connery. There's just something about his whole demeanor!

Andrea Proulx November 9, 2009 5:26 PM

I love the story about how you and your husband met and fell in love. Oh and Sean Connery, his accent is sure swoon worthy. Marc can actually duplicate it to a T. I'll make him do it some time on his mingle!

Felicia November 9, 2009 6:16 PM

I had a crush on Keanu Reeves! Of course, the hottest old man I know is George Straight!

LT November 9, 2009 10:27 PM

Ah yes, Sean Connery. I still have a crush on him, you just have to love the accent!

I loved the Long story short on how you met your husband, I bet when it is told in person it is even more beautiful.

The time travel was a great question this week, I loved your answer! My husband said a similar thing that he would love to see his mother again because he has so much to tell her.

I hope you have a great Thanksgiving! Staying at home actually sounds nice to me!

Badger Momma November 11, 2009 8:19 PM

Sean Connery... another yummy guy.

I love your 'how we met' story. :)

You've got very good reasons for traveling to the past. Would be great to get answers.

I hope your Thanksgiving is a great one with love and friendship.
