Monday Mingle: What is your favorite technological innovation...?

I did my video this week but it's not uploading and I've tried all evening and I'm done before I smash this computer! So I'll answer and if the stoopit video works then I'll upload it later. Ugh.

1. Someone tells you that you have the whole day off and gives you $1,000 to do as you please.  What do you do?

 I would buy myself a laptop (I've been wanting one now for a long time but can't justify asking the hubs when we already have this one, plus we don't have the moola for stuff like that. And some sweaters for myself. I don't ever shop for myself, just for the kids and groceries. Sad huh? 

Or I'd buy this swingset for the kids. Yes actually I probably would buy that for the kids.

 


2. Who would play you in a Lifetime movie about yourself?

Angela Bassett would play me. I like her. And the husband likes her so he'd watch :)  

 


3. We're in the technology age.  What is your favorite technological innovation?  What one do you think is just useless?

 My GPS. I will get lost in a parking lot so this has helped me alot. It's not always accurate, but putting me in the general area really helps out. 

I can't think of any that I think is useless.......hmmm....


4. What is your favorite funny childhood memory?

I don't have a favorite funny childhood memory. We don't get those in the orphanage. Wait! wait! There was this woman who worked at the orphanage. She was so very mean to us and let us know she thought we were basically societies wastes.  Did everything to make life worse for us. It was unbearable the week she would be working. 

One day I was doing my chore (cleaning the dormitory) when I saw a butter container on the window. I check it out and it had pee in it. I did not want to touch it so I just pushed it out the window.  I then heard someone shouted up: 'Who threw water on me?!" I was so frightened, I ran out the dorm and pretended that I was somewhere else. 

She did find out it was pee and of course everyone laughed at her. 

I did not tell anyone until probably a month after the incident :) I was a hero :)

So I guess that was my funny.


5. What is/was your favorite Kool-Aid/Jello flavor? One you hated?


I love anything fruit punch or strawberry. but I don't care for jello so it would be Kool-aid. And I hated anything lime.

God will use the worst of you for the best

Luke 2:8-14

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."

 
This famous passage of Scripture is the most beloved in our day recounting the birth of the Christ. The contrast is striking. Shepherds were regarded as one of the lowest castes of the culture in their day. They lived outside the cities and were not allowed to participate in many events. Yet to whom do the angels proclaim their good news? Who hears the greatest choir in the universe? The shepherds. The picture of the outcasts with the magnificent gives us a glimpse into the heart of God. He takes the parts of our lives that we regard as unclean and proclaims good news. He opens our hearts to tell us what He is about to do in our generation. May we be in a position to hear the angels and join in the purposes of God for our time.

Giving Thanks

I wanted to share from the verse I got today.

Deuteronomy 8:10

When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you. 

Thousands of years after this verse was written, in the midst of a hard winter that killed half of their fellow travelers, the Pilgrims who settled America still had a lot to be thankful for. Just before they arrived, a plague had wiped out a hostile tribe that would have killed them. Fifteen years earlier, one member of that tribe had been taken to Europe, was taught English, became a Christian, and came back to America just in time to teach the Pilgrims how to survive. Thanksgiving is a reminder that we have a good God who rescues us in a broken world.

Today I want to love on Annie from Mama Dweeb and Jennifer from eightymphmom

I met Annie a little while now and we visit each other alot. It's fun interacting with her. She is also working on her blog and every time I visit, it gets better and better.

I love her blog and how fun and sweet she is. She is just alive and all things mom and woman and wife and friend.

She is always laughing, well I think she is, but you can tell from her words that she is usually smiling. I love that.

She loves the Lord and I learn that I can ask her any question about cloth diapering! So if you want info on turning to the cloth, you must ask her!

Jennifer is a delightful woman. Affectionately known as Speedy. The moment you meet her you'll feel so comfortable and welcome. That is how I felt meeting her (not in RL but ...same thing) and so you know I just had to stick around :)

Then she invited me to do Monday Mingles and if you have not done this yet, you should hop on the fun wagon and vlog with us. You can start at your comfort level. I promise we'll come love on you :)

She is a SAHM with teens and her furrbabies which she is always showing off when they happen to stroll by a video or photo lens.

I make airplanes for my kids to play with inside and outside our home and well soemtimes they end up in the ceiling fans, and poster hangings etc. Nice add on huh? :)

Monday Mingle: All about relationships

I promise I'll return to v-logging soon. I'm just not feeling up to being viewed right now. Just having a rough time.

They are very affectionate, however, princess was upset and did not wish to bestow kisses or have them bestowed upon her.

We're mixing it up a bit this week - ALL ABOUT MARRIAGE/RELATIONSHIPS:
Speedy Cop would love to see the husband/partner's answers too - either via vlog or through you!


1. Men: When your spouse asks you "how does this outfit make me look" - how do you respond?
  My husband is not going to do a vlog with me at anytime soon. I've asked him before and he asked why would he want to do that :) He is not a camera/video person. 


  Ladies:  Do you really want him to answer honestly?

I don't ask my husband this question. But if I did I'd want him to be honest and say what he thought. After all, I am dressing for him and me. He should always let me know if I should highlight the girls or fade them some etc  :)

2. Both: What is one thing you should always do to keep your spouse/partner happy? What do you do/say to avoid friction in your relationship?

1. Give him the remote or some loving. Men are pretty easy.

2. I don't appease too often so friction is around alot. We are ...I am learning how to try to get to a point of talking it out so each of us can settled a matter without going off like spitting lava and then having to nurse the wounds.  It is not easy. 

We do apologize and pray for each other alot so that's a good start right?

3.  Both: What were the first thoughts about your spouse/partner  that came to mind when you first met him/her?

I thought he was a good man because I've had the chance to know him first for over two years without dating (Good thing because it takes me a good long time to trust anyone). Then when we met, I thought he was shy and nervous and really tall :)

4.  Both:  What is your favorite physical feature of your spouse/partner?

I like his eyes. They change color alot (I guess it depends on the colors he is wearing) but they are blue. I also like his profile, he is cute and he also reminds me of Ralph Fiennes.

5. Both: What are the key ingredients to a successful marriage/relationship?

Since I...we just spoke to our Pastor asking for help. I'll give you the four things he said that we'll be trying and see how we progress. 

So if you learn to fight fair then that's apart of the success.

In my own words how I remember it...

1. Your spouse is NOT the enemy

2. It's ok to say I'm so very mad right now, but I'm committed

3. Stop and decide to go to your separate corners (carrying on with chores or life or whatever) and think about what is happening and why you are angry and then come back and try talking about it. If you get off topic, go away and calm down and come back and try again. It's worth it to work it out  without shooting each other with words which can wound for too long of a time.

4. To stay in tune with each other, so you'll know how to support your spouse in whatever they are struggling or rejoicing with. 

Sit (no distractions) and talk. You will have to practice this because not all couples are used to doing it or want to say what's inside or even know how to do it.  You can start off with just five minutes if more is too much.

It is important not to try to fix anything each other said. Just listen and encourage and talk.

Other: Date each other. I can't tell you how I yearn for dh to date me. Just me. no kids. 

Enjoy each other. Do silly, stupid stuff together and laugh. It creates bond.

Let each other be individuals and have and pursue their own goals. As long as you don't ignore each other and allow your relationship to fall by the wayside. etc etc etc

I am ready! I want to add more movies to my 394 netflix list.

Many of us have tried to include exercising in our daily routine and have failed miserably or just couldn't make it work. That is what I'm reading. It is a very interesting book by John and Stasi Eldredge. And a snippet that I found really good is:

Let me ask you a question: Where is Adam, while the serpent is tempting Eve? He's standing right there: "She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it" (3:6). The Hebrew for "with her" means right there, elbow to elbow. Adam isn't away in another part of the forest; he has no alibi. He is standing right there, watching the whole thing unravel. Aloha Friday: Will your guest room be full?

Who are you looking forward to spending the most time with during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays?

We were hoping to spend our holidays with family but travel is out this year for budget reasons and every one lives at least two/three days driving.  Another very dear thing that I wanted so badly was to have a foster or adopted child with us this year (that has not work out just yet so we'll wait).  So for us it will just be our immediate family.
