Aloha Friday: Smoothies

My Question:

Do you like smoothies? Do you make your own smoothies?

*******************
I do love smoothies and sometimes I do make my own with leftover fruits and yogurt etc.

Start the New Year off the healthy way (and make the most of in-season, immunity-boosting oranges!) with a yummy breakfast shake that's loaded with vitamin C, potassium, and calcium.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup orange juice, freshly squeezed (from 1 large or 2 medium oranges)
1 medium banana, sliced
1 cup organic, lowfat yogurt
1–2 teaspoons agave nectar, to taste
Ice cubes, if desired

Place all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and serve.
Serves 1–2

I do love smoothies, but I usually just add a cup of frozen fruit to a protein shake for a quick meal and to cut down on calories.

Annie January 8, 2010 3:02 PM

OH smoothies are delicious!! I would love to make my own but I don't have a blender....

sheila January 8, 2010 5:11 PM

Oh yes! We make banana one's and strawberry ones many times a week in the summer time! A store by me sells a cheap smoothie mix and all ya do is add the fresh fruit and ice and milk. Mmmmmm.

Thanks alot, lol...now I want a smoothie and we're out of fresh fruit! ha ha ha!

I love smoothies, is one of favorite with fruits.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today.

Have a nice weekend.

I am not a smoothie fan. I keep trying them and I just don't like them. The closest I get to one is when my mother-in-law makes what she calls banana shakes, which is really just ice, bananas and cinnamon thrown together in a blender.

Thom January 8, 2010 7:57 PM

I'm not a fan of them. They are too sweet and make me thirsty. Have a great weekend :)

I love smoothies, but I'm much too lazy to pull out our really loud blender. I might just have to do that tomorrow!

Hope you have a great weekend Col, and Happy New Year to you. I'm late on the well-wishing....

Mmmmm Smooooooothies! Yep, love them in the spring and summer mostly. I love your recipe. It sounds yummy. Mostly I do the fresh fruit and ice, but yogurt sounds wonderful. I'm your newest follower.

I do like smoothies. I used to drink them all the time for breakfast and dessert. Have a great weekend!

kailani January 9, 2010 3:56 AM

I love smoothies but never think to make them. I know it's easy but we always end up at Jamba Juice instead.

Amy A.K.A. "The Mrs." January 9, 2010 8:53 AM

I'm a huge smoothie fan. :) I had them all the time during my pregnancy last summer. It's a great wait to beat the heat and stay healthy. Fruit and yogurt was my "norm". :)

Badger Momma January 9, 2010 9:50 AM

I like smoothies but I'm kind of picky in that they can't have any fruit pulp in them. They have to be SMOOTH smoothies. :)

I never think of making them at home though.

diana January 9, 2010 12:36 PM

They always sound so good, but I avoid them because of the blender mess.

I know, I have issues.

Stopping by via SiTS to welcome you to the gang!!

My top two faves are Banana & Blueberry...delish!

Although, I must admit, I'd take them in a milkshake anyday:)

I just wanted to stop in and welcome you to SITS & to wish you a little belated Happy New Year!

Brandy January 10, 2010 4:22 PM

I love smoothies but never make them at home. I need to get a better blender before I will be able to. :(

Dropping in to welcome you to SITS!

Laura January 10, 2010 8:21 PM

I like smoothies but don't make them at home. I just don't think of it.

Deb - Mom of 3 Girls January 10, 2010 8:28 PM

I do like some smoothies - I'm not a big fruit eater, so don't make them on a regular basis. I really should more often though - my girls really like them.
