My Question:
Do you give out your SSN to anyone who asks? Does it make you feel uncomfortable to do so?

I don't give mine out unless it is for legitimate reasons such as Insurance forms, DMV, Renewing a passport etc. Otherwise I offer to use my driver's license or passport/visa as identification.

No I don't. Identity theft is not something I would be interested in becoming a victim of.

We do not give Social Security number to anyone unless it is for an official application (like job or taxes). Everything else is not acceptable and if they have a problem I inform them we were identity theft victims. Hubby's information was stolen from who knows where and someone opened up a line of credit. We were lucky that they were stupid and we caught it before they took our a cash advance. Still a nightmare w/locking credit and trying to make sure nothing else was compromised.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog.Happy Friday follow! Please stop by and say hello.

I do not give mine unless I have to and I refuse to give out my children's. The Dr's office will ask and other things but I will not give out theirs. They do not need it.
ReplyDeletenope, i do not want people knowing my info...
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely NOT! I'm leery one my own bank asks for it. I don't believe anyone that comments today will say yes! DON'T DO IT!
ReplyDeleteNo we don't give our SSN out.
ReplyDeleteIt even irritates me when a doctor office asks for it. I have insurance and they do not need it.
Stopping by with Friday Follow. Hope you had a fantastic week.

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm excited to get to know you through your blog! Have a wonderful weekend!! :o)
ReplyDeleteI don't remember the last time I was asked and I guess that is a good thing. The state I live in gave the option to remove it from our drivers license and I did. It requires more paper work when my license needs renewed but I do feel better not having my number for all to see. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI hate that so many companies use the SS to identify you. Thanks for supporting Friday Follow. Have a wonderful weekend. Rita @ http://one2try.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't bother me, but of course I'm sensible about it. I used to work in the mortgage industry so I was the one doing the asking.
ReplyDeletehonest scrap award 4 u,
ReplyDeleteplease enjoy it.
I'm visiting from FF. I'm following you now. I love your blog and your 365 proj. has some great photos.
