Aloha Friday - Kindergarten carpool vs school bus

My Question:
Did you/will you drive your child to kindergarten (his/her first year) or put them on the school bus?
*******
I feel that I want to drive my son to kindergarten at least until he gets used to being away from home. What is best to do?

We homeschool, but if they were in regular school, I would definitely drive them at that age.

We live close by so I don't need to make that choice...I walk her to school (and I LOVE it)!

YEAH! Plus Cartwheel...my kids are old enough to drive themselves to school!
I would drive them when they were younger.

Have a great Friday!

My son road the bus in kindergarten.

He did go to pre-school the year before and we drove him.

We had no option for kindergarten. Our district does not bus, but if you are a certain distance from the school you can get a bus. I know most of my friends that are in busing districts do the bus and meet the kids at school to take photos of them walking in on the first day.

I think I will definitely be driving for kindegarten. My two love buses though and would be thrilled to ride.

If it's that far yes drive your child to school otherwise walking is good to & from & you go with him. One he's still with you so familiar face/surroundings until he gets use to it. Plus, he'll know how to find his way home if need be. You never know. A child needs a sense of direction. I think until the child is mature enough to be left without s familiar face he needs his mom.

Only my daughter went to Kgarten her first year...and now I am homeschooling all my children. However, I *did* let her ride the bus. She was so excited to and she loved it. I have sweet pictures of her waving good bye from one of the bus windows! It could make me cry! :)

When my son started kindergarten last year I drove him to and from school everyday. After a few weeks we decided to homeschool but I feel like kindergaretners do not belong on the bus. It is a scary place (the bus) and I think having you drop them off and pick them up gives you the chance to be more involved. Good luck!

Aloha! :-) For your question, I don't have a child yet but if I do I would do as what you feel that I will drive her/him to school until such time that she/he will get used to be on his own.

My Aloha Friday thought

Have a great weekend! :-) ~hugs~

When Kacie started Kindergarten I drove her to school even though we live about an 8 minute walk away. :-)

IF you can drive him I would. I will be driving my son every day. I thankfully won't have to do that til NEXT yr. This yr it will be 3 days a week and my daughter only on WEd. thankfully the neighbor takes her the other days so I don't have to drag the boys out in the am.

How far is it away must be far if they supply bus service
