Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Mop Review & Giveaway - Back To School Bash - CLOSED - WINNER!

Thank you all for entering. I do appreciate your time.

The winner is Paula Michele.

Congratulations! I have sent you an email.

*******

When I was told that I would be reviewing this Rubbermaid Reveal Mop for our back-to-school bash,  I had no clue what it was since I had not heard about this mop before.
I went to their website and read more about the mop, but I was very skeptical as I had fallen into the trap of purchasing another steam mop that didn't work out and I am still miffed about that since I spent hard earned moola on it. The Rubbermaid Reveal Spray mop isn't a steam mop.

I spent the next few weeks eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Rubbermaid Reveal Spray mop. I only swept my floors, no wiping. I insisted that the Reveal Mop prove it's wipe.

I'm old fashion and stick to my mop and bucket, because it has not failed me so far. And it's still good exercise :), but if I can find something that would make me clean my floors more often, then I am all for it!

Sunday was my day. I didn't mean to not go to church, it just kinda happen based on stuff I was dealing with, so when I'm in that state, I clean and it's good for me, breaking plates doesn't work :)
It was just me, my music, the house and the mop. You know you gotta play music when you clean!

I vacuumed and cleared out all the chairs and rugs and toys etc. I wanted to used this mop on all the floors.

I assembled the mop (go me!) and got the water hot and mixed it with a little pine sol. You can use just the water if you want, or just have fun making your own cleaning solution or just buy a good one.

You must not use bleach with this mop. I'm a bleach girl. I like to know that my floors are free of germs, however, I'll have to find other cleaning products for this fine mop, and for now, pine sol works just fine.

Then I began the wipe. Remember I'm very skeptical, because all I can think about is having a river on my floor and having to go over the whole house with my mop and bucket again, like the other mop did when I used it.
I wiped a little and looked at the floor. Wiped again and looked at the floor and I'm liking what I'm seeing and feeling. The water doesn't just pour out in steam, you are in control of how much water you want to use by squeezing the spray handle. I like that very much.

In no time my kitchen and laundry room is done and I'm ready for the entry way and two bathrooms. I can tell you that it is faster to clean my house with this mop. Of course you'll still need a little elbow grease. It's still a nice work out to do the whole house, but it is sooo much better than my mop and bucket!!! It saved me alot of time. I think it cut my cleaning in half because I got to wash my hair and cook (start the dinner), all in the same few hours before the hubs and kids returned from church!

I love this mop! However I think my floors were a little too dirty (but then I've been waiting for weeks! :) and I should have swept it a little better because at some points I saw the mop pushing dirty along while wiping. I had to stop and clean that up with a paper towel because who wants dirt wiping on dirt. So make sure you sweep or vacuum your floor properly before using the mop.

I love that this mop can swivel and fit into crevices and corners like where my toilet is. Let's talk about the boys splashes shall we?..ok.. no? :)

I love that the microfiber pads stay put on the adhesive (really strong adhesive!) and don't move around like the other mop did. The push and pull was just right without having to worry if the pads were going to come off during the cleaning.

I noticed that the pads seem a bit stiffer when wet and I think that helps the scrubbing process on the floors.
The Rubbermaid Reveal Mop Kit came with two refillable bottles and three microfiber pads.

*Note from Sponsor: The mop that is found in the stores will not come in two pieces and comes with only one pad and one bottle. Extra pads and bottles are available for purchase separately.

I used one pad for the kitchen and laundry, one for the entry way and the other for the two bathrooms. Works out pretty well I think.

The microfiber pads are re-usable (up to 100 times before needing replacements), just throw them in the washing machine and you are good to go. I don't put them in the dryer. I let them dry naturally but it all depends on what works best for you.

I did encounter some problems which I think was just oversight on my part. At one point I was cleaning and lay the mop down with the bottle still attached to change the microfiber pad and the water leaked out on the floor. Oh I was ticked and kept wondering why it would do that. Then I kept having to push the bottle down back into place, then the floors started (in the bathrooms) to get wetter than it was supposed to. So I went to change another pad and realized that the bottle cap and come undone abit and was loose and that's why the water kept coming out and also why the bottle wasn't staying in place, so if you notice this, just gently get the bottle up and tighten it again and you should be good to go.
Can you imagine how I felt? I thought I was having another mop nightmare! But it was just something I had to learn.

The second time I used the mop to clean went way faster! I was soo excited about this because I used to hem and haw about taking out the mop and getting the bucket with water to clean the floors. I mean, do you know how many times you have to squeeze out a regular mop!!!!

I also love that my floors dry faster! I have kids, who have time to wait and I surely don't like to tell them to stay in their rooms longer than they have to.

This has been a very good experience and I would definitely recommend this mop.

I know it's wrong, but I would love just their plain old massive storage bins. I love that they now come in all sorts of colors so I could sort holidays - red = Valentine's, pink = Easter, green = Christmas, etc. Ahhhhh, how gorgeous!

~dab August 2, 2010 6:32 AM

Their Easy Lids! I bought some last year and loved them - I'd love to get more. I would love to reclaim my cabinet space and organize all the storage containers and lids!
