Uniformed Or Let It All Hang Out? - Aloha Friday/Friday Follow

My Question:
Do your children wear uniform or casual clothes to school?

My son is wearing uniform and it's mandatory. I actually like this very much because I would be sad for my children being bullied or shunned if they didn't have the latest wear which seems to happen alot in schools. Children can be really cruel and it's not just when we were growing up.

In my country every child must wear a set uniform and I think that's a great idea and wished more schools here in America would decide on the matter.

I see the back to school ads for all sorts of fashion and I know I wouldn't be able to afford so many outfits for so many different days in the school calendar year.
What about you?

  1. at only 18 months, we dont have this problem.... yet.

  2. My kids actually went to both kinds of schools and I really liked the positives of both.

    Have a great Friday!

  3. No school uniforms for us yet, but the district is experimenting with them. I did teach at a school with uniforms and there were just different issues in that situation.

  4. when she was in grade school she wore a uniform but now in High school anything goes.
My Aloha Friday link for you

  5. No uniforms at Princess Nagger's school - sometimes I wish there were so wardrobe selections would be easier! :)

    Aloha: Staying Cool

  6. I kind of wish the local schools would start a uniform policy. It would certainly make things easier.

  7. I am for wearing uniforms to school!
In the Philippines all students wear uniforms, even those who goes to public schools. Here in the US, I wonder why it's not that way.
I think when students of all grades will wear uniform, it will make them behave better since they are wearing school emblem. And i think, if there is uniform, clothes and fashion will become the last thing in the student's mind which is how it's supposed to be.

  8. Uniforms are totally expensive. I could remember my dad always complaining how costly they were. When my children went to school they didn't have to wear uniforms except my boys did. My boys went to military school for a few years. I think the uniforms are better though so kids don't outshine each other, and get jealous of what the richer kid has if you know what I mean.

  9. Hello I am a new follower from FF. I would love a follow back at

  10. I would not have minded the uniform thing, but my kids wore regular clothes.

  11. Following from the Fun Follow Friday!

Hope you have a great weekend!

  12. I went to both a school that required uniforms and later a school that did not have a dress code. To be honest I was teased more at the school with the uniform - my parents had to buy second hand uniforms and they were a bit old and faded and didn't quite fit right and there was no way I could customize the outfit to make it look good.

At the public school where there was no uniform or dress code, I was able to choose outfits that fit my figure, in colors that looked good on me, and customize and accesorize in ways that were flattering even though the items were not designer or bought new.

  13. You know I think uniforms can be costly just like off the rack. One of the most popular girls at high school and I discovered thift store shopping. I was like hey didn't know you shopped here too.

Outfits for $2 to $5, not so bad.

  14. I hope to get JDaniel into a uniform. It would make getting ready in the morning easier.

  15. I'm in agreement, I think school uniforms are the way to go ! I'm not sure why public schools don't enforce it around here. It would make our lives so much easier. The cost of clothes is outrageous and school should not be a fashion show! It's a place to learn and that should be the main reason to attend !!! I have 5 children and you can't imagine how broke we get when we go back to school shopping !!! This year I was much better and putting my foot down and telling the kids they don't need so much !!!

  16. We homeschool so my kids wear casual clothes. I think uniforms would be so much easier though. But as a kid, I would have hated it. Still, all that peer pressure over fitting in and keeping up with the cool kids was such a drag.

  17. My son wears casual clothes. I don't typically buy him "school clothes" at the beginning of each school year. I have always purchased clothes all year round. When I find a good sale clothes get bought and put in the closet. When he fits into it, I bring it out.

  18. No - they don't wear uniforms :)

  19. What a great blog!! I am really enjoying looking around. Thanks for sharing!! I am now a new follower!! Nicole @ BTW I found you on Bloggy Blog Hop!!

  20. Sorry! I am a week late but the boys wear casual clothes however there is a dress code :)
