Water Conservation - Aloha Friday and Food Fight Friday!

My Question:

1. Do you have a shower monitor?

2. Do you teach your children to conserve water?
*******

1. I saw a shower monitor in the store yesterday and didn't even know they had those. I thought about purchasing one, but didn't. I feel I'll be albe to monitor shower time when my kids begin taking their own baths.

2. Yes I do try to teach them how to conserve water. Not turning the water all the way out, turning it off while brushing etc.

And this is what I've been craving all week!! A salad! Specifically garden salad and breadsticks from Olive Gardens. I can't wait to eat there again!

Kailani says "In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response."

  1. I've heard of a shower timer, but I don't have either that or a monitor!

  2. No, I don't have a shower monitor and yes I teach my children to conserve water? We all have a time limit when it comes to showers and always brush our teeth withe the water off.

  3. I sometimes think about it but not all the time. I try teaching the kids but they just don't get it at the age they are.

...A friend of mine and I met for lunch at the Olive Garden just yesterday and had the soup and salad meal...yum! I had no idea they had a light dressing that tastes the exact same!!!

  4. I've never heard of a timer for the shower . . . we do teach our kids to not be wasteful of any resources, but we also teach them that it's not a sin to use resources.

  5. I don't have a shower monitor but teach my girls to conserve water.

    Have a good day.

  6. I don't have a shower monitor, but like you, might think about one when Princess Nagger starts taking her own bath. I do teach her to conserve water - she's even better than me about that! ;)

  7. I have a Teen, need I say more.....the Other day she came down I said "we are out of hot water", Dad and I just looked at her and said" You need to take shorter showers". Oh I wish we could just program the water to turn off after a time, like we do her cell phone and internet!
    My Friday question for you

  9. I have never heard of a shower monitor, but honestly I rarely shower very long - 5 minutes tops.

I have a 2 year old so when we do things like brush teeth, wash hands I talk to him about turning it off.

  12. Shower monitor?
Nope! But yes, we conserve water...
I was just telling my mom that they needed to put a brick in the back of their toilet... You know, to use less water
and YUMMY Olive Garden would be great... hubby hates it

  13. We don't have a shower monitor but I also take ridiculously short showers so I've never thought much about it. We haven't taught the kids much about water conservation yet but definitely will.

  14. We do not have a monitor. I seem to be the one that reminds hubby his shower needs to end. Our kids still like to take a bath, so we minimally filly the tub and go from there. Our oldest son often reminds us to shut off the water and conserve. They learn a ton at school.

  15. Shower monitor is a great idea!
I guess I do teach my son to concerve water, I ask him to use a glass for water when he's brushing his teeth.

  16. No, I don't have a shower monitor (I'm cutting back on gadgets, not knockin it - lol)! but I do definitely watch my usage - keeping it very short -turning water off when I don't need it. Mary, TheFrugalBuzz.com

  17. Hmmmm. Now I think I need to try to talk the hubby into going to the Olive Garden tonite. LOL.

  18. Well, no kids at home, so I do it myself, and so does the hubby. Actually he shuts the water off while he soaps up & then he turns it back on. As far as salad - I love it, but I throw everything in. Love salad.

  21. I don't know what shower monitor is. But I do try to conserve water. It is really bad where we live, we have droughts and cut backs. You name it.

  22. Not heard of the shower monitor!

We have now gone to water meters on the homes, so this may come in handy!!
