Then And Tankini

I've always been so self-conscious about my body. Especially my skin.  I wasn't blessed with the beautiful skin touted by many. I swear climate change has something to do with this! Come on I gotta blame it on something.

Anyway, not even as a child would you find me wearing anything resembling a swim suit. Unless I was hiding in a room with the cruel talking mirror and me.

Now that I'm older. I realize how much I've missed out on the freedom of just being myself in so many ways. And while there is another worry about my body now after children. I know that if I ever see another beach (LA does not have beaches), I'm wiggling into a swim suit and it better be hot red and a tankini or all in one like these:

After all. I'm me. A woman. An individual. Why should I worry or care about who like my spotted, hairy legs or a few stretch marks here or there. We live with what we have and I'm ready to start loving on me.

What about you?
Do you worry about showing your body in this way?

  1. I only became self-conscious after having my last baby. I vowed that I would get into a swimsuit this year. I am probably not as bad as I think I am. We shall see...

  2. I am 45 years old and I can't remember a summer that I didn't shudder about the idea of wearing a bathing suit. I have tried every different style underneath the sun and I always have a cover up handy BUT I love summer and I wear the darn things. In addition, when my kids were little I hung out at the pool with them and I had no choice. I wasn't about to trade wonderful summer days with my kids because 'someone' (magazine editors) told me I should be a size 0. Nope, I went to the pool and played with my kids!

  3. Of course...I thought all women did.I am much happier now than when I was younger...I just never realized that I wasn't happy.

It's totally ridiculous. But you know there us always something. My 13 year old is 5'8 and she hates it. I always wanted to be tall...there is always something.

  5. I didn't have issues until after having kids. I've had 4 and now I just don't care. They want to play in the water and I have to go! I'm not missing out on the fun. lol

  6. Well, this question came timely, I have been working hard on getting rid of the five pounds that puts me over the edge...like not fitting my clothes anymore. It's not working what ever it is that I am doing. I will need to find a better solution or work harder at the exercises.:0

  7. I quit worrying about that a long time ago. It comes with age I think.

  8. Yes especially this year. I put on some weight after my surgery that I can't seem to take off plus the deformity because of the surgery.

  10. Ever since I've had kids, I've dreaded wearing a swimsuit. I'm blessed to have good skin but I need to lose about 20 lbs. - and it's all in my middle!

  12. I am not skinny so I wear a one piece bathing suit. I don't worry about skin flaws because they are out of my control!

  13. I am only worries because I have a heck of a time finding a bathing suit that will work for me. My top and bottom are so very different in size. Really need one with good support on top for the girls, and they are hard to come by.

  15. Well, at my age I don't think about such things, and besides I can't remember the last time I've been to a beach. hhahahaha Have a good weekend.

  16. I still will try to find a nice two piece that would look good on me. No one comes close to me now a day except for SO and my daughter, so not a problem :-)

  17. I've definitely gotten more daring as I've gotten older. I never wore bikinis growing up, but I wish I did. I only wear bikinis now.
