Do you let your children ride on the school bus?
Or do you drive them to school and pick them up after school?

I'm all about the school bus - especially since it picks up and drops off almost directly in front of our house! Princess Nagger missed it a couple of times last year - the drop-off line for 'car riders' was insane! So I'm all about the convenience - plus it saves (me) gas and time (and not having to drag a 3-year old along for the ride). :)

Hi Colette, my two older children used to ride the bus when we live so far from school, but now we live within a mile of it, so I take my youngest to school and back, since the weather in Michigan can be very harsh at times!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
1. I don't have children but in this day and age I would not let them ride a regular city bus. If it were a school bus that picks them up and delivers them back home that would be fine.
ReplyDelete2. I would definitely drive them to school and pick them up. You cannot be too careful nowadays.
We walk to school, then pick the youngest up by car. There's no school bus. You're only allowed to send your kids to schools in your catchment area. There are several for us to choose from.
ReplyDeleteThe older ones walk to school. It's just over the road from where we live.
well, he isn't old enough yet...
ReplyDeletebut when the time comes, i hope i can take him myself...
i hated the bus... and up here, they have to catch the bus like an hour and a half before school even starts
I did the school bus on and off through the years, but I drove them for all of middle school and high school until they could drive themselves.

ReplyDeleteOur son rides the school bus home.
My kids ride the school bus. With 4 kids at 3 different schools, it's just too crazy to try to do otherwise. Have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe school bus is fine, I know the drivers.
ReplyDeleteSchool bus. The kids loved that extra time with their friends.
ReplyDeleteHello, I'm coming through from Smart and Trendy Moms Blog Parade. Won't you follow me back?

I drive them. We don't live far enough away to get the school bus, yet too far to walk. The way the system judge the distance is a little off, but can't blame them, they have to draw the line somewhere.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a problem of letting my kids get on a school bus, as a matter of fact, I encourage it, so that they can be more sociable. But according to my questions this week at TTQ, is it really worth it? Even adults sometimes experience isolation. There are so many things kids have to go through already.
We did both- depending on the school.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Friday!

My daughter is too close for the school bus so I drive her each way. It's about a 12 minute walk for me and at just 5 years old, she's far too young to be on her own getting to and from school. I wonder when I'll let her go by herself. Maybe grade 11 or 12 lol!
ReplyDeleteAlex is too little but will always probably drive her : )
ReplyDeleteIt has been many, many years (my boys are now 27 & 25), but the first week my oldest son rode on the bus, I followed the bus to and from school for a week. The second week, I felt more secure and waited with him at the bus stop.
ReplyDeleteAhhh! Colette! You took my Aloha Friday for next week, LOL! My kids just started riding the school bus this year. I am very excited, before they walked almost a mile we don't have a car to drive them. So Yes I let them ride and I am grateful they are able too!

My kids go to school in a different district so I drive them to and from.

We pick our grandson up...but only because his parents want us to rather than them worry he might not make it the few blocks from the school to our home! LOL... Hi! I am trying to catch up on my Friday Blog Hops! Follow back please @ http://www.pargasjunkyard.wordpress.com and/or on facebook @ http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pargas-Junkyard/259287017434763
ReplyDeleteI don't have any school age children so that is one thing I don't have to worry about. I don't know how anyone does what they do now and keep a job! I would go nuts if I had a child now. I take my hats off to all of you who do. I am a new follower of your blog thru Facebook and RSS Reader. I was already following you thru GFC. I would love a follow back on all three (if you aren't already following on GFC) when you get the chance. Thanks so much for your help and have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI entered several contests and in doing so I am following you on Twitter, Networked Blogs and signed up for your newsletter. I would love it if you could do all this for me also. I will be doing my first giveaway in about two weeks. It will be Eclipse Spa and it will contain a scrub, lotion and roll on perfume. I would love for you to register. Please sign up for the newsletter so I can remind everyone when it starts. Thanks!
