Ready to have beautiful skin?
Many women start skin care regimens with good intentions, but when they don't see the results they want in a week or two, they lose interest and quit.
If you are really serious about making changes, you need to make a serious commitment to yourself. Many researchers and physiologists agree that it takes 28 days of solid repetition to create a habit. Your beauty routine needs to become a habit -- something you do automatically without even thinking about it. That can't happen if you always quit after 14 days.
You make and keep commitments to everyone else. Why not to yourself?
Week One
Day one -- Look carefully at your skin.
What do you wish to improve? Do you have acne? Are you seeing fine lines? Is your skin dry or, conversely, too oily?
What do you want to accomplish with this boot camp?
Write down your goals for the month and post them somewhere you can see them.
Day two -- Stock up on essentials. You will need the following in the days ahead:
- Cotton pads
- Make-up remover
- An appropriate and gentle cleanser for your skin type
- Toner
- A medicated lotion, if acne is your problem
- Moisturizer, oil-free if you have acne or oily skin
- Fresh makeup to replace old makeup past its expiration date
While you are taking your morning shower, wash your face with the cleanser.
After leaving the shower, gently pat your face dry, and then apply toner liberally with a cotton pad. Let it dry. Once the toner is dry, apply the medicated lotion, if you are using it. Let the lotion dry on your skin. Finish with moisturizer and apply your makeup as usual.
Remove your makeup with the makeup remover and cotton pads, and then repeat the morning routine. Continue to repeat this twice-a-day process the rest of the week. Do not skip any days! Remember your commitment!
Week Two
While continuing the twice daily skin care regimen, this week you are going to focus on drinking more water.
Water is absolutely essential for fresh, healthy skin. It moisturizers your body from the inside out.
Each day this week, focus on drinking one more glass of water than the day before. By day 14, you should be drinking a full eight glasses of water daily.
Continue this process throughout the rest of the boot camp. You will be on your way to making it a habit.
Week Three
You're going to add some extra skin care goodies this week.
Head to your favorite store and look for a facial mask that is appropriate for your skin type. For example, if you have oily skin, a mask made with clay is a good choice. Fighting acne?
While you are at the store, pick up a cream or lotion for fine lines around the eyes. Even if you don't see fine lines yet, it's never too early.
Garnier makes a good one, as does Neutrogena, and neither are terrible expensive. Add the mask to your morning routine, three times per week.
Apply it after you have cleansed in the shower, but before the toning step, following the directions on the package. Add the eye cream to your nightly routine, after toning, and before moisturizing.
If you've been following the boot camp loyally, you should be seeing some noticeable improvement in your skin by this point. Any acne should be clearing up and your skin should feel softer.
This week, focus on your diet. Drop as much processed junk as you can out and add all the fresh fruits and vegetables you can eat. These foods contain vitamins and minerals your skin needs to look its best.
Congratulations! Your skin care regimen should now be a habit.
Continue to follow this program for the best skin you've ever had.
