Spicing Up My Office Space

Today I came home from the final day of VBS exhausted! I thought of all the emails I have to check and all the blog posts that needs to go live and I was also thinking of how my back is going to hurt sitting on the couch in such an awkward position with the computer for a long time.

I really don't have to sit on the couch during my blogging. I can sit at the desk and have more of a balance, however the chair is not working out well and I'm starting to want to sit on mounted boxes instead! So I choose my couch plus it's closer to the TV!

We do have a good desk. It came with the house. I guess it was just too heavy for them to move it. The drawers are already falling apart, but otherwise very big and strong desk.

While I would definitely take a sleek new set of office furniture for my little office, what I mostly need right now is some good chairs, a few bookcases and a good filing cabinet. You should see the amount of books we have! I seriously want to open my own home library!

Anyway, I'm checking out the bush business furniture and this computer desk is just right for my needs. I especially love the storage and being able to have display areas. My mother-in-law has a desk similar to this and I have always admired it. I'm in love with the designs of the bush desks.

When buying chairs I love to sit in them and see how they fit and roll and twirl. So while looking for comfort, I still want something that will serve me a long time while keeping me in good shape posture wise.
This chair looks like something that would give me the back/spinal support I need.
I want a strong and sturdy  bookcase that will fit a lot of books. Of course with kids you want something safe. I'm always cautious about height because I don't want one falling over and causing hurt.

And I think this is the cutest filing cabinet ever! My husband wants a filing system so much! We'd probably need a bigger one but gosh this is just perfect! And they have the color that I want too to match the other furniture in our home.
So for now I'll try to find a good spot on my couch, propped up with pillows until I can find myself a chair that my spine will love!

Do you have a good chair at home that you enjoy sitting in?

To Love And Be Loved As Annabel Lee

It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of ANNABEL LEE;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me

I was a child and she was a child,
In this kingdom by the sea;
But we loved with a love that was more than love-
I and my Annabel Lee;
With a love that the winged seraphs of heaven
Coveted her and me.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
In this kingdom by the sea,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee;
So that her highborn kinsman came
And bore her away from me,
To shut her up in a sepulchre
In this kingdom by the sea.

The angels, not half so happy in heaven,
Went envying her and me-
Yes!- that was the reason (as all men know,
In this kingdom by the sea)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.

For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side
Of my darling- my darling- my life and my bride,
In the sepulchre there by the sea,
In her tomb by the sounding sea.

Technological Visits With Grandma

Grandma lives in another country, so they get to have their relationship with her by phone and webcam. I'm so glad my mom cares enough to make this happen.

Wish I could say the same for the others in our family.

They both get to take turns and everyone enjoys their conversations. They've been doing this since there able to coo :)

Caribbean Style Home Decor For My Guest Room

I'm one of those HGTV fans. I love watching the home makeovers and at one point wanted so badly to contact them and ask them to come fix up my home. Of course I didn't have the budget, so I could only watch the show and dream.

I love how they find great deals on furniture and little accents to help make a house a home.

I know exactly how I'd want my home to be decorated, but that will probably take years to accomplish.

I want my home decorated Caribbean style. I guess I just can't get over my island heritage no matter how long I live here.

I love beautiful colors and designs that are bold and yet warm and welcoming.

We have an extra room upstairs that we would use for family if they visit and I was thinking it needs a good bed, some chairs and definitely a little coffee table to pull it all together.

Coffee tables can be used for so many things like little tea parties, foot rest, study area, pep it up with flowers and definitely storage for a little room like what we have.

It is a really small room. It would work best for a teen but hey, a room is a room right and while I can't afford the upgrades right now. I can still pen my ideas if there is ever such an opening.

For a little room, I'm shooting for a look like the one below, except with yellows and turquoise green and like colors.

The ceiling is slanted just like that but the roof is a bit lower and smaller space.
The room can only fit so much furniture so I'd definitely choose a chair to go with the coffee table, over a dresser because there is already a little closet space attached to the room.

And of course if necessary, you could put a little TV on the coffee table if you so desired.  It is great to find well designed furniture that has enough storage so that space is always being utilized without much effort.

I love thinking of ways to decorate my home to fit my Caribbean dream. I want it to be beautiful, light and airy.

Do you have themed design in home?

Me, Myself And I - Aloha!

We have a meager budget. I don't buy clothes or shoes and the likes for myself, unless I do surveys long enough (a year or two) and accumulate enough for a gift card.
When I get this gift card I usually have to focus really hard in getting something for me and not just getting food items or something for the kids.

I will buy for the children on sale but for me, no.

I've started to focus on buying myself something that is just for me. It's just $10 but it's for me. The only cereal I love is Basic. So I try to purchase this for me and my beloved chocolate.  Those are the two things that I will get for me without too much anxiety. *Noting all the 'me' in this post* lol*

What about you?

Questions:

What is something that you buy or do just for you?

Do you make money separate from your spouse? or do you have a one income family?
