I'm so proud of Viola. And even more so of her husband. It's great to see a man who understand the deeper issues and help his woman to have good footing to showcase herself. Her true self.
Viola Davis stepped on to the Oscar's red carpet in a beautiful, strapless emerald green Vera Wang gown and said she purposefully skipped the wig she wears on red carpets and for film roles. It is the first time the actress has rocked her natural short locks on a worldwide stage, and she says her husband, Julius Tennon, saw it as a potential opportunity for empowerment. I saw the Oscars too and she looked fabulous! It was a great show!
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch the Oscars, other than I caught a short glimpse during a commerical break while watching Celebrity Apprentice and yes, I saw Viola Davis. I don't know her work, but I thought she looked lovely. I think she looks nice without the wig, personally. Hollyweird can so poison starletts with this image thing which transcends down to the viewers, namely women and young girls. I think we should always want to look our best, but unnatural alterations of oneself (plastic surgery)or being nothing but skin & bones (proper weight folks, proper weight) is not cool in my book. We need to feel beautiful in our own skin regardless, if we have a large nose, small breasts, aging lines,...Confidence in oneself shows forth as a sexy and beautiful you!
ReplyDeleteI loved reading the words of her husband too. Kudos to him for encouraging her on such an emotionally supportive level, and kudos to her for giving him credit for it. I love when husbands and wives tout each other.
ReplyDeleteFor the record, I thought she looked beautiful without the wig.
