Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self. Cyril Connolly (1903 - 1974)

Not Just For Special Events! - 4Ms

Do you realize that most children do not know the national anthem of this country? And most certainly have no idea what July 4th means. Ask around and they'll tell you it's for fireworks display. This is terrible. Every child of understanding should always learn about their country's history.

How else, will we move forward with purpose?

So here you go!

No pop stars, no vocal show offs, just the Star Spangled Banner, the cadets, and the US Army Herald Trumpet Corps.

Now doesn't that just give you the goosies?

Welcome again to Monday's Music Moves Me. Let's start our Monday's off dancing and and a light mood.

  1. It is so nice to hear all the words and notes, how beautiful!

  2. It doesn't surprise me our kids don't know what the real reason is why we celebrate the 4th nor that they do not know the lyrics of our national songs or even the Pledge of Allegiance. When I was a kid, we would recite the Pledge of Allegiance and the Lord's Prayer at the start of each school day. Our nation has slipped so far from these days. If our schools can't do what's right then we the parents of the United States of America need to keep these fundmentals alive for future generations to come. I am proud to say, I included these basics in our homeschooling years and my hopes my children will continue to pass this onto their children. God bless America! Let freedom rock n' roll forever! ^.^

  3. BIG GOOSIES! My friend you brought up a very good point. I think all reading your Post should sit down tonight and tell their children the real meaning of the Fourth of July. You are so wise beyond your years my friend, and a great American. I'm glad I know you Callie girl! hugs.

  4. This was a really great patriotic pick. Now, I am curious to find out if my kids know our national anthem. I really hope so. If not, we'll be singing for the next few days. :-D

  5. I love that rendition of The National Anthem, I even posted it on my blog, too.
It moves me to tears everytime I hear it.
Hope your family has a fabulous holiday.

  6. I totally agree with you Callie! Not many kids are educated in patriotic matters these days-I don't even know if they continue to say the pledge at the beginning of the school day anymore!

You can never go wrong with any rendition of The National Anthem, so good pick :)

    Have a musical week!

  7. I love how you kept it simple and basic. Sometimes that proves to be the best way to do things. But people like to be showy!

  8. The Star Spangled Banner always gives me goose bumps. Besides sporting events it also brings back memories of the days before cable when TV stations actually went off the air, and the played Star Spangled Banner it was kind of haunting in the middle of the night!
    Thanks for stopping by!

  9. That did just put shivers up my spine! Beautiful version.

  10. That DID give me the goosies.....the choirs were amazing, but since air shows are some of my favorite events, the jet fly-over stole my heart. Happy Music Monday :)
