Make Your Facebook Timeline Come To Life - 6 Tips!

We are bloggers. We use facebook. Let's learn how to do it wisely so we can maximize our effect and capitalize on our audience.

1. Include a photo.
Photos carry the most “weight” according to Facebook’s edge-rank, which means status updates that include a photo will likely be shown to more of your fans.

2. Timing is good.
Figure out what time of day you are likely to get the most interaction on your page and then share the things you want to be seen most at that time.

3. Ask a question.
Posing a question or including a Call to Action is a great way to go. Be sure your questions only require one word or a short phrase to answer.
Everyone is busy and only have so much time to share with you and their other fans. Let your fans know exactly what you want them to do (e.g. LIKE your update), be sure to specifically write, “Click ‘LIKE’ if you agree!”.

4. Moderation is key.
Do not saturate your fans with too much all at once. Put a half an hour or so between shares on your timeline. Give fans time to interact and share,

5. Include a link.
If you are telling your fans about a new product or blog post you want them to check out, be sure to include the URL ( - use it to shorten long links) in your update.

6. Tag relevant pages in your status updates. If your update mentions another business or organization, be sure to tag them in your status update. You might find new fans this way, plus that business might take an interest in you or some of their fans.

  3. These are some absolutely great tips! I had a feeling the picture thing was true; a picture grabs someone's attention so much more than just writing!

    I also try to space out my updates-I hate when someone posts like 10 things, one after the other o.O

  4. Excellent tips! I try to post only one status per day. I've found myself "hiding" people that post like 15 status updates in a row because it clutters up my feed. Plus, I don't need to know every little thing they do in a day LOL.

    The time tip is a good one too. I notices there are certain times of the day/night when my posts get a lot less views than at any other time of the day.
