Classroom Relationships

Apparently the school shuffles the kids and so all the kids you knew in Kindergarten, you wont see in first grade and so on and so on.

It's a major bummer because kids grow attached and while it's nice to be able to make new friends, not all kids are social like that.

So they did the same shuffling of kids and now my son doesn't have any of his friends from first grade in his new 2nd grade class.

He tells me yesterday that he doesn't have anyone to play with. I feel sad for my boy. We had a talk about meeting you new people and making new friends, walking up to someone and just asking a question or just sharing something etc, but really what's the point if the school is just going to keep shuffling kinds around in a few more months.
Seems like this is unnecessary psychological stress for little kids.

And trust me, I don't like it.

I'm not a social butterfly and it takes me quite awhile to get comfortable with people and so I understand how my son feels.

I hope whoever made them think this was a good idea, will get this revisited.

Come to think of it, I should just call the office and ask anyway.

Not that they are going to be changing anything.

Because we all know if you don't have money,  you don't have klout.

Do they shuffle the children at your child's school?
What about when you were a child in school?  (If you don't have children)

Don't mind the weird posts on my page if they show up. They probably weren't meant for publishing but I probably can't get to them right now.

Rubbermaid Lunchbox Sandwich Kit Review - #BackToSchool

All throughout kindergarten I made lunch for my son. It all went well even though I'd run out of steam in the middle of the school year.

In first grade, I figured I'd take a break, but something had happened that broke my heart.

One day the boy came home and ask me to make his lunch again. I asked why? He said when he eats in the cafeteria, he is still hungry. OH NO! That is not good! I can't have my child hungry while trying to learn!  So we finished up the money in the account at school and I began making his lunches again.

When making school lunches, I need really good containers to hold all the different kinds of foods I will send with him.

Sometimes I'm doing a school lunch and also after school snacks for programs he was involved in.  I was beginning to think I need a bigger lunch bag, but thank God it all fit together.

Now I have the chance to use the Rubbermaid Lunchbox Sandwich Kit and I'm very excited about the choices I'll have to put in his lunch box!
I really appreciate the creativeness of the ice pack being made with and for the kit, for easy reuse. I was beginning to think I'd need to order more online.
After all, later this month, my daughter begins school and I will need to make her lunches too!
I like that I can use the kit all together or separately, depending on what I have in mind for snacks or lunch.

I tried the kit in our regular lunch bag and was happy it fitted perfectly and I could add the normal beverages, yogurt or other treats without space problems.

Great School Lunch Ideas for Kids - #BackToSchool

Since school is starting, some of us may have forgotten the rigors of packing a lunch for the little ones. How do you balance nutritious food with stuff they will actually eat? How do you make sure they won’t trade their food for the other kid’s Oreos? Well, here are some great, creative and tasty lunch ideas for your kids.

1. Angry Birds –
angry birds bento
As you can see from the picture, this lunch idea is inspired by the popular game, Angry Birds. The little pigs are made from grapes and icing eyes, the big pig is made from a peeled kiwi.
The red bird is BabyBel cheese with part of the wax peeled back, carrot shaving beak, and olive eyebrows. The black birds are olives and the big white bird is a hardboiled egg. A tasty, fun and healthy lunch! The sliced sandwich is simple peanut butter and jelly.

2. Wrap it up –
Everyone loves wraps. A tortilla is a great way to make lunch portable and easy to eat. Bean and cheese burritos, chicken and rice, even pizza rolls made of marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese and toppings of your choice.

3. Simple sandwich –
The simple sandwich is the go-to lunch for many parents. You can liven up the sandwich by adding surprises like sliced bananas, leftover meat from dinner shredded, or even exotic nut butters and jelly flavors.

4.Snoopy –

This cute lunch idea is very easy. Just cut a sandwich into Snoopy’s shape and decorate with lettuce and an olive nose. Woodstock is made of cheese and more lettuce and then add fruits, veggies, or pasta to finish off the meal! A sliced tomato is Snoopy’s collar.

5. Leftovers –
If you have some leftovers from dinner, they can make a healthy and tasty lunch for kids. Plain pasta sprinkled with a little parmesan, and rice with butter, salt and pepper can complement a plain sandwich.

Kid’s lunches can be fun, taste great, and be good for them with only a little planning. Make sure you don’t pack anything that might go bad, but other than that have fun! The most fun you make their lunches, the more likely they are to eat them.

Our Limits - Not His

I was watching Locked Up Abroad and there were two Australians who were kidnapped for over a year. At the six month point, they felt they must convert to being Muslims in a fake way, so they could survive. They worried that they couldn't pull it off properly and would be killed.

I guess they pulled it off enough, but that didn't earn them anything, they were still captives and treated the same way.

I thought to myself, what's the point?
I really do not believe I'd convert to my captors faith just to stay alive. Giving up my faith is the complete betrayal of myself and I know/feel that God can and might protect me if it's his will. If not, then I die for better.

Then I also thought, of course I can say all this now, but what if I'm in the situation?  Peter didn't think he would betray Jesus. He was adamant to anger that he wouldn't and not even a awhile yet, and he was born in another century from Jesus right?
So there is a lesson there to be wise about what we do not know we will do.

However I like to think on these things and what I might do, so that if such a situation arises, I'll remember to hold strong....

So this quote below was spot on when I saw it today:

Earlier in Acts, the apostle Paul knew that he was to preach the gospel to Caesar, so he was on a ship to Rome as a prisoner.
But a storm has caused them to go off track. They crash into a reef and it seems that Paul’s life is in danger, yet God uses an unlikely candidate to help.

If God can use a Roman centurion to protect Paul, how much more can God use your boss, co-workers, or complete strangers to make sure that you make it on your journey?

Don’t make the mistake of limiting what or who God will use to accomplish His purposes.
The soldiers planned to kill the prisoners to prevent any of them from swimming away and escaping. But the centurion wanted to spare Paul’s life and kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land. The rest were to get there on planks or on other pieces of the ship. In this way everyone reached land safely. – Acts 27:42-44 (NIV)

Simple Steps Towards a Healthier Life and Lower Blood Pressure

Drastic changes bring about immediate and drastic results. But most of us prefer to make simple changes that will yield long lasting results, especially when it comes to leading a healthy lifestyle. For all intents and purposes, living a healthier life will yield a longer life span, and these simple steps towards a healthier life and lower blood pressure will help you reach your goal.

De-Stress

The first simple step to take is to de-stress. Stress leads to a variety of health problems including high blood pressure. Your body responds to stress by narrowing arteries which in turn causes blood pressure to rise.
Stress also causes the body to release it’s stress hormone, Cortisol, which causes increased abdominal fat, increased blood pressure and an increased risk if diabetes.
Symptoms of stress include depression, fatigue, anxiety, headaches, breathing difficulties, upset stomach and sudden weight loss or gain. To get rid of stress, start exercising and develop calming interests like reading or gardening.

Exercise Increases Longevity

Exercise does a body good and is a simple step towards a healthier life and lower blood pressure. A few minutes of daily walking (one of the simplest of exercises) will relieve stress, aid in weight loss, help ease arthritis pain, improve mood, help lower cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke and diabetes.
Regular walking (or any other physical activity) makes your heart stronger. A stronger heart can pump more blood with less effort. Less effort means less force on arteries and lower blood pressure.
Exercise makes you feel good in mind and body due to the release of ‘feel good’ hormones called endorphins and serotonin. Both of which work to ease pain and lift the mood.

Eat Right

Eating the right kinds of foods will add years and vigor to your lifespan. Foods called ‘superfoods’ offer a variety of health benefits and taste good. Baked potatoes are one such superfood, providing low calorie potassium which helps lower blood pressure and prevents weight gain. Barley is rich in fiber which helps lower cholesterol and regulate blood pressure. Adding oats and any other whole grain to your daily diet will aid in weight loss by keeping you feeling fuller longer (causing you to eat less) and helping to lower cholesterol.
Make one simple food swap each day, like swapping one can of sugary soda for a bottle of water, and you’ll be taking simple steps towards living a healthier life.

Take Your Medication

If you have been diagnosed with high blood pressure and have been prescribed medication to control it, take it. Take the medication faithfully exactly as prescribed. If you experience unwanted side effects or can no longer afford the drugs, talk to your primary care physician about alternative medicines, but don’t just stop taking the medicine altogether. Work with your physician to find a medicine and dosage amount that will work for you.
Take all medication as prescribed and ‘brown bag’ the medicines to your physician so he or she will know what you are taking and avoid possible drug interactions. This includes any supplements, some of which may even cause blood pressure to rise.
