Road Trip Adventures With Kia

We love to travel. You can find some of our crazy long trips here on my blog. We will drive crazy distances to visit family and we usually go through the gamut of emotions along the way.

Of course there are the great sites to visit and scenery galore to explore and we try to do them all! My husband is adventurous and will take tons of photos to the point where I'll plan in my mind which ones I'll be deleting! Why does anyone need 100 photos of a mountain capped with ice with a blue sea green background? Yes, he does :) I prefer taking photos of people and silly happenings. You could say we have a balance.

One of my top priorities is to ensure that I know where we are going, which means I need to have my GPS handy! My husband prefer the regular old paper map for the navigation. Did I mention we have a balance?

The hardest part is cramming everyone and luggage in a small car. I always have to pack extra because I have two babies! So the trunk is full and every other space inside the vehicle. Little to no leg room. It's almost a sacrifice of space.

Our first long trip out with the babies was when my son was two years old and my daughter was nine months old.

I was the mommy - nanny. I took care of everything kids, while my husband took care of the driving. I would twist around to feed kids, climb over to change diapers, play silly games, take photos, give boo boo kisses and soothe, all in the vehicle while we were driving. It was fun and frustrating at times and I usually ended up exhausted!

That is why it is so important for families to have a good vehicle during any road trip. A good vehicle that will get you there and one that actually has enough space for all the stuff we need to pack around!

I remember how we'd stretch the mileage of the car and at one point was worried if it would be strong enough to handle the snow! We wanted our vehicle to keep us warm and comfy and we also wanted it to be able to start without trouble after a night or two covered in snow!

We were on our way to  visit with the grand parents on my husband's side. I think they hadn't seen the babies in quite awhile at that point.

The trip was a good one and at one point our kids had us laughing so much, we hurt! My son had fallen asleep. The babies were very good pals and loved each other. They would always be touching the other, whether a hand on the shoulder or holding hands while they slept etc.

This particular time, my son had fallen asleep and my nine month old was awake. I'm always taking photos of them and I turned in time to see her kicking his head. Then she was putting her fingers in his nostrils and the way she was doing it, we just started  cracking up! I don't know if she wanted him to wake up, but he never did. And it's still funny today!

We made it safe to the grands and had a very good Christmas stay with them and our vehicle was faithful to bring us home safely. However our baby is dying now. We've had her for over 17 years. We'll probably run her into the ground until we can afford another one.

I like the possibility of a Kia.

One that catches my eye is the 2013 Kia Sportage. And of course I'd love it in red! :) I like my vehicle higher up so I can see the road!

What was your best road trip destination?

What's Up With All This Celebrating Of Evil?

In my country we do not celebrate halloween. So even after all these years here in America, it's still foreign to me and not something I look forward to doing.

When my children were young to age five and six, it was easy to keep them away from the cloak of halloween delving.  They did have fun little costumes (which I didn't purchase) and we'd sit at our door and watch the going ons and give out the candy to kids stopping by. They'd squeal at the cute costumes and meet other kids and neighbors. No biggie.

Last year, my kids wanted to go out. So I dressed them up and off we went around the neighborhood to collect candy and see the settings.
Again no biggie and my kids were excited.
Too much candy and I admit to dumping some because there is no way they were going to eat candy everyday and they knew that. Especially if they already had candy at school! Let's not get started on the candy giving at schools!!

But I really do not care for halloween. I want to say I'll do it for the kids, but I really don't want to do that either.
I'm all for the candy and cute costumes on little kids, but seriously, what is with the evil celebrating. It seems it gets more scarier and scarier. I don't do scary very well.

I don't mind the kids being dressed up all cute, going trick or treating with their families, but I do not like the constant scary advertisements on my TV, the scary movie marathons, gruesome looking homes and decors and people acting weirder than usual.

It's not about the religious part of it or the history. After all I wouldn't mind dressing up in a fun costume (nothing scary) myself. Maybe a queen or police officer or even a sexy Jasmine. It's just my opinion that it just seems evil and suck the fun, cute and candy out of it.

Am I the only one who feels this way about halloween?

Thursdays Unglued!

Thursdays for me is rough! I never planned for this to happen. I always schedule things wide open so that our family has time to relax and aren't always on the go.  I believe families MUST have time to just 'be.'

Anyway, it turned out that Thursdays for me has become my nightmare, but not really in a bad way, because all the things we are doing are normal and necessary. Just that I would never have them on the same day!

Bible study: I schedule that for Thursday mornings because I cannot do the ones at night, because I have small children and would rather be home.

In between all of that is getting kids off to school and doing other errands.

Ballet: That is one hour after school. So we can get home and the kids can have a snack, and baby girl can change into her leotard and get her hair in a bun, and we'll get to ballet on time.

Those were the ONLY things scheduled for Thursdays!!!!

I choose Thursdays for ballet because I thought we had soccer practice on Tuesdays!

Nope. Coach changed it around and now we do not have soccer on Tuesdays, but on Thursdays instead!

Nothing on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays. But everything on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays! Seems balanced right? No. It's just all packed into there back to back! I don't like it. Isn't it funny how life takes it's own stream?

So I've been having problems with Thursday mornings. I always seem to not sleep well that night and then I'm super tired in the mornings and just want to ditch bible study and go take a two hour nap after dropping the kids off at school.

Today was such a day. I told myself I simply wasn't going to go. Even though today was brunch and I had promised to bring the fruit.

I prayed about it.

I wasn't going to go.

But on my way home from dropping the kids off at school, I realized my energy had changed. I felt alive.

So I figured, I could go.

I got dressed and went.
On my way there, I thought I should just not bring any fruit, since I wasn't prepared and I thought I was going to be late.

I come to the last stop light to turn to church and I have 20 minutes to spare! It was unreal! It takes five minutes tops to get to the church from there. I am never early. So I decided to just go get the fruit. The store is right across the street from the light.

I go in the store and there is ONE single fruit plate. as if it's just sitting there waiting for me. I do not like to have the last of anything. And if you know me, I'll take things from the back shelf where no one else has touched, because I'm OCD or something.  So I was just standing there looking at this neatly done fruit plate and thought it amazing that all the signs are pointing to me going to bible study.

I get to church and the gals are just sitting around talking and haven't yet begin the discussion. :) Oh boy I tell you, satan just wants to steal our joy any way he can.

So we had a great discussion from the book: He Speaks To Me - Preparing To Hear From God by Priscilla Shirer - Forwarded by Beth Moore

And brunch was finger licking good! The conversation was great! And I learned so much from these women.
I am so excited that God made all the little ways so that I could be there in fellowship! And I think he wants me to continue the Thursdays :)

It was just amazing to see the little things leading up to me being able to be there today and to have so much fun! And I am super super excited right now! Still sleepy ja, but super excited!

Is your family over-scheduled? Or do you schedule activities wide so that you will have time to be together in a relaxed environment?

Lights Off? - Aloha Friday

1. Do you turn off the lights when you leave a room?
2. Does your child use a night light?

Explain to children that lights, televisions and computers use energy, which is in short supply. This is a simple way to reduce wasted energy and carbon. If you turn off just one appliance, you could save 99 pounds (or 45 kgs) of greenhouse gas!

New Power Rangers Power Blast Juices - Healthy Alternative For Your Child + #Giveaway

I am a mom who makes my kids lunches every day. I ensure they have healthy and fun lunches that will satisfy their hunger. I notice the times I allow my son to eat from school, he tells me that their only choice of drink is milk. That is too weird. What about juice and water. There are healthy juices!

Every lunch kit must have refreshments and I always try to shake things up and purchase different kinds of juice products for the kids. Of course I let them choose sometimes which is apart of the fun.

So when I introduced the New Power Rangers Blast Juices, there were screams of delight! They both wanted them immediately and not only enjoyed them at  school with their lunches, but also at home for snack time or dinner time.

My son loves power rangers and all sorts of hero toys, so this was of course his very favorite juice. I know it wasn't just the photo on the box that made him love the juice though. He loved them because the flavors tasted really good!

I received six pack of the Red Ranger Berry Power Blast and Blue Ranger Blueberry Power Blast and I have to agree that these taste very good and is now a favorite in my home.

Have you tried these as yet?
