I am a mom and I do laundry.
Yes that sums it up.
kinda. I'm still learning how to do laundry by trying new products and finding the best ones that work for my family's clothing.
I've never used Borax before, but I've heard about it and thought I'd try it some day. Today is someday. I'm using it according to instructions. I can see a big difference in my laundry! It's pretty cool. And it's a good kinda cool because we have hard water here in LA. I think our water is safe overall, but I really think it's hard on clothes and dishes and appliances in general. I've seen the effects.
I love washing with Borax and I will continue to do so.
What is Borax?
20 Mule Team Borax is 100% Natural mineral from the earth. Once removed from the ground it is washed, dried, and boxed for consumers.
Borax is the common name for the sodium tetraborate: a naturally occurring substance produced by the perpetual evaporation of seasonal lakes.
Absolutely nothing is added. No phosphates, chlorine, or other additive chemicals.

Over 85% of homes have what most people call 'hard water." Hard water is defined as water that contains calcium and magnesium (ions).
How does hard water affect laundry?
When you add detergent to hard water, some of the compounds attach to calcium and magnesium granules that settle on the bottom of your washing machine, eventually retreating down the drain without actually cleaning your clothes. What a waste of detergent
20 Mule Team Borax naturally softens hard water
20 Mule Team Borax naturally softens hard water, which protects your detergent - so it can maximize cleaning power.
Cleaner clothes than detergent alone
To boost your detergent, simply add 1/2 cup of 20 Mule Team Borax to every load, along with your regular (Purex) detergent:
You'll find that it:
- Naturally softens hard water and improves your detergent's cleaning power
- Helps keep stains from being re-deposited back onto clothes

I haven't used Borax for washing, yet. I've only used it in experiments in my elementary science classes. I've been considering making our laundry detergent & Borax is one of the ingredients. After your review, I think I'm ready to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteI'm really not sure if i've used it so I guess I'd say no. let's change that.

I use it in the laundry detergent that I make here at home... and to keep the ants away from the house... :) ( we have a lot of fire ants and can't get rid of them...it is NOT a good time.)
