Apple Family Love and Apple Facts

I love fruits. And I'm so glad when I can afford to get them for my family.

Do you eat Apples?
Which ones are your favorite?
Do your children eat fruits?

I prefer we eat as healthy as possible. Of course that would mean moving to my country for at least 7 years, but hey, you work with what you have right.

In my country, food comes from ground to table without all the preservatives and sprays that require bio suits and all that.

Let's talk apples; my daughter loves the fruits. She'll eat them continuously if you let her! And she wants them whole! I like her style.
My son, however, wants his peeled and sliced! Wut! (Should I be concerned for his wife?) :)

I don't mind, but I do have to remind them both about portions, and also leaving some for other days during the week that we wont be purchasing groceries.

We've tried quite a few different varieties and I think I prefer the golden delicious. I know for a fact that the kids do not like the granny smiths :)

While the kids and I love and eat the apples. My daughter is the apple lover.

Apple facts:

  • The crabapple is the only apple native to North America.
  • Apples come in all shades of reds, greens, and yellows.
  • Apple trees take four to five years to produce their first fruit.
  • Most apples are still picked by hand in the fall.
  • Apple varieties range in size from a little larger than a cherry to as large as a grapefruit.
  • Apples are a member of the rose family.
  • World's top apple producers are China, United States, Turkey, Poland and Italy.
  • Apples ripen six to ten times faster at room temperature than if they were refrigerated.
  • Don't peel your apple. Two-thirds of the fiber and lots of antioxidants are found in the peel. Antioxidants help to reduce damage to cells, which can trigger some diseases.
  • Many apples after harvesting and cleaning have commercial grade wax applied. Waxes are made from natural ingredients.

  1. I like any kind of apple. The kids all like fruit. I can't keep a fruit bowl filled. My daughter used to say grapes made her giggly, and she'd giggle every time she ate one. ;)
