Welcome to the Never Lose Your Stuff Sweepstakes

Organized by Mom Powered Media

In today's busy world, it feels like none of us have a chance to sit back and relax. Business meetings, school functions, and of course, running errands when time allows. With how busy our lives are, we don't have time for those little emergencies, especially when it is the loss of a cell phone, tablet, or heaven forbid, our purse!

When our expensive, personal items disappear, we panic and think of the worst case scenario, when in actuality, it is likely laying where we left it or may have been picked up by a good Samaritan, having no clue how to get your valuable back to you. While name tags may have worked when we were kids, we really don't want strangers having our personal information. Wouldn't it be nice though if there was a way they could contact you without giving them such valuable information, allowing you to get your stuff back?

Luckily, something like this does exist - Bungee Virtual Lost and Found! So, what are Bungee Tags? Possibly the most brilliant idea out there! You see, these tags anonymously mark your property and when it's lost, someone can text the number listed on the tag and report the tag number.

From there, Bungee facilitates a conversation between you and the person who found your stuff, via cell phone and/or email so that you can arrange a way to safely get your lost item. Best of all, it works anywhere in the world that has cell phone signal or internet!

To learn more about all of their amazing plans and how they can protect your important electronics and items, make sure to check out the Bungee website. They also set up an amazing deal for Moms, allowing you to save 50% off their coverage plans.  Don't worry, you don't have to be a mom to take advantage of this exclusive offer, just make sure to use this following code at check out.

Jumping Genres - Undeniable #Book By Tawdra Kandle

Jumping Genres

It’s book con season, meaning a few different things: first, I’m traveling almost all the
time. Second, I have the privilege of meeting readers face-to-face, getting to talk with
them.

Since I started out as a young adult author, I tend to get an influx of middle-school to
high-school age girls who have read and enjoyed The King Series. They want to talk
sweet new love and (sigh) Michael.

But since I’ve made the leap to New Adult and adult romance (both contemporary and
paranormal), my books also attract their moms.

Crossing genre lines is a tricky business. I didn’t set out to be a young adult writer;
honestly, I never read much YA after I left high school. My first story just happened to
fall into that category, but I noticed that when I went to events, I drifted more toward the
adult panels. When asked on YA groups to tell them my favorite book in that category, I
didn’t really know what to say.

My plan had been to write Rafe’s book (Undeniable) after I finished The King Series, but
then one day, the entire plot line for The Posse fell into my lap. It was without doubt an
adult romance, and the idea of tackling it was not a little daunting. Fortunately, before I
jumped into it, I wrote a short story for the anthology Eternal Summer, and it was
definitely not a YA story. I began to think maybe I was ready to be an adult—I mean, to
write adult.
cover
I know there are people who prefer authors to stick to one genre or another. To them, I
apologize: it’s just too much fun to write in more than one category, and I would be bored
if I decided to stay in just one. Same with romance: sometimes I want to write
contemporary and sometimes, I feel the need to be a little paranormal.

Happily, in this brave new world of publishing, I don’t have to be either/or. . . I can be
both/and.

Would You Dare To Believe

The past week have been just a bit stressful. I know why some of the emotions are upon me and wish I could get away from them.

I used to be so strong. But I think without a way to replenish oneself, you get depleted quickly. Especially when you have kids around that demands so much and you are alone....

On my way home I was so upset, I began to cry. It is unsafe to cry while driving. I tried so hard to put away the feelings but they just came a crushing and I admit I began to wonder if I was even a Christian, or even if God cared much about my life. It seems I'd like to be farther along in my development of being a good and strong person that He is willing to prune/add. I was being selfish. I didn't doubt Him for one minute, but I still had the questions. Maybe I wouldn't even make it to heaven. Maybe I'm just going to be a failure at everything. How will I ever find a good job. Why at this point in my life, am I barely able to put food on the table....

I was really down and going down and this song came on immediately. And gosh I cried even harder!

Do you wonder why you have to
Feel the things that hurt you
If there's a God who loves you
Where is He now

Maybe there are things you can't see
And all those things are happening
To bring a better ending
Someday somehow you'll see you'll see

Would you dare would you dare to believe
That you still have a reason to sing
Cause the pain that you've been feeling
It can't compare to the joy that's coming
So hold on you gotta wait for the light
Press on and just fight the good fight
Cause the pain that you've been feeling
It's just the dark before the morning

My friend you know how this all ends
And You know where you're going
You just don't know how you'll get there
So say a prayer

And hold on cause there's good for those who love God
But life is not a snapshot
It might take a little time but you'll see the bigger picture

Would you dare would you dare to believe
That you still have a reason to sing
Cause the pain that you've been feeling
It can't compare to the joy that's coming
So hold on you gotta wait for the light
Press on and just fight the good fight
Cause the pain that you've been feeling
It's just the dark before the morning

Once you feel the weight of glory
All your pain will fade to memory
Once you feel the weight of glory
All your pain will fade to memory, memory, memory

Would you dare would you dare to believe
That you still got a reason to sing
Cause the pain that you've been feeling
It can't compare to the joy that's coming

Come on you've gotta wait for the light
Press on and just fight the good fight
Cause the pain that you've been feeling
It's just the hurt before the healing
Oh the pain that you've been feeling
It's just the dark before the morning
Before the morning
Josh Wilson
It wasn't even loud. Just in the background of the vehicle.
I got home safe. I apologize to my kids for being awful to them at the store.

Put away groceries, made dinner and during some of that time I prayed.

God really cares about us. And sometimes he reaches out with the one thing that can break through at that time.

Life is definitely not a shapshot and when I checked Dolly's theme for today, this post was perfect and this shall be the music for my week.

Any Day Baby - October Baby

I remember what it felt like when I thought my mother didn't want me. It's a root feeling. It honestly doesn't go away. But after meeting my mother as an adult and seeing the relationship we have now. I can know that she really does love me.  But the feeling remains. It's in the shadows of my heart.

Maybe it's because I still don't know my father. And maybe it's learning from my mother that he really didn't want me. He found out she was pregnant and just packed up and left her. Just ran away.

So that root feeling still remains, because no matter how old a child is, that child will always want their parents.

Watching October Baby really blew me away. I actually had thought it would be a movie about some young girl getting pregnant and then choosing or having to decide if they want to have an abortion or not. The story line is completely different and really knocked my socks off.

The movie touches on so many areas of life. Family, pain, forgiveness, abortion, healing and knowing that in truth, your past can propel you into growth and strength no matter how painful!

I am glad my mother loved me. I'm glad my sister helped her to find me in the end. But most of all, I'm glad that God intervened and made it a miracle. We can't speak of our finding each other without seeing the miracle he worked into it.

If you haven't watched this movie, then definitely get a DVD or download or visit your local library.

Son Of God

I hope I get to watch this movie. If I remember to watch, I'll have to wait for it to come to our library.

Will you go see it?

From the award-winning producers of the record-breaking miniseries The Bible, Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, comes Son of God, the larger-than-life story of The New Testament, to be released by 20th Century Fox on February 28, 2014. Son of God is a major motion picture that brings the life of Jesus Christ to the big screen like never before.

Told with the scope and scale of an action epic, the film features powerful performances, exotic locales, dazzling visual effects and a rich orchestral score from Oscar®- winner Hans Zimmer. Award-winning actor Diogo Morgado portrays Jesus as the film spans from his humble birth through his teachings, crucifixion and ultimate resurrection.

The movie is action-packed with special effects, powerful acting, and beautiful cinematography. It marks the first major motion picture about Jesus' life since Passion of the Christ, released ten years ago.

"AN EPIC WORK."
"Mark Burnett and Roma Downey's feature film Son of God proves that when talent and passion collide, the outcome is spectacular. Having spent time with them on the set, Victoria and I witnessed firsthand the deep and abiding passion they possess for God's Word. Every aspect of this production from the acting to the poignant storytelling is accomplished with excellence. Mark and Roma have succeeded in doing what few before them have done; they have produced an epic work that tells the Story of Jesus and touches the heart".
-Joel Osteen, Senior Pastor of Lakewood Church, #1 NY Times Bestselling Author
“THE BEST I"VE EVER SEEN.”
"I've probably seen most, if not all, of the films about Jesus produced in the past 50 years. This one stands alone, in a class by itself, as the best I've ever seen. Brilliantly produced with stunning cinematography, a Hans Zimmer score and academy-worthy acting, it stands head-and-shoulder above the rest.
Son of God draws you into the story from the start. Not since the release of "The Passion of The Christ" ten years ago have I been this excited about a movie…Son of God brings to the Big screen the Story of Jesus. Here we see the wonder of His birth, The power of His mission, The loving sacrifice of His death but most importantly, we see The Eternal Hope of His resurrection. I am thrilled that 20th century Fox are distributing this film and know it will be a blessing to millions when it opens in theaters all across America this Spring."
-Rick Warren, Senior Pastor of Saddleback Church and Author of the #1 NY Times Bestselling Book A Purpose Driven Life
"EPIC MASTERPIECE."
"This epic masterpiece tells the world changing story of Jesus and inspires us to love and live for others just as He did.”
-Santiago “Jimmy” Mellado, President/CEO Compassion International

What Does The American Dream Look Like For Your Family - MassMutual American Dream Family Study

“I participated in an Influencer Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for MassMutual. I received a promotional item to thank me for participating.” www.momcentralconsulting.com

The American dream was not something I thought about as a young woman, but I sure did have my own dream. I remember writing it down and intending with all my heart to get it done.

I wanted to attend college, find a good job, work as hard as I could to purchase my own home and then a car. Along the way I wanted to adopt children and have a strong family. But most of all I knew I would have to work very hard and I was fortifying myself to do so in all my young years.

Of course as you plan, life happens.

I ended up being married instead, moving to America and settling into being a stay at home mom.

Then I learn of the American dream. It wasn't something I thought too much about because I already held beliefs along that line already.  But who doesn't want to have that life?

I want the education that gives me options in the job market. I want the home that build memories, credit and good value. I want the family, community and strong future for my children. And I want to be able to retire and enjoy the later years in a leisurely manner. That is what the American dream looks like for me.

However I've noticed over the years that, the American dream seems to be a mirage for our family.  As we get older and this slips from our grasp, we focus more on making this dream a reality for our children.

I still desire to return to school for my personal achievement and also find a quality job that would work well with balancing my family.

We will continue to work hard and invest in our children's future so they can have the strong education needed to have a leg up going into their future journey of attaining the American Dream. I cannot predict what it will be for my children, but with all the knowledge being gained and the changing of the world, I'm sure what the American Dream looks like for every family will continue to change.

MassMutual, a leading mutual life insurance company, conducted its third biennial State of the American Family Study, which offers a broad snapshot of American families’ financial views. The study found that while confidence in the American Dream may be declining, Americans’ financial satisfaction is on the rise. In fact, nearly three in ten (27 percent) American families are satisfied with their current financial situation, up from 18 percent in 2009.

Some of the statistics I find very impacting in this study are:

MassMutual’s survey also found that views vary between demographic groups.

50% of women say saving for their children's college education is a top financial priority and 48% say they also insist on paying for it. Men, on the other hand, fall in at 40% and 42%

Among ethnic groups surveyed, African Americans and Chinese Americans maintain a particularly strong belief in the American Dream. Only 17 percent of Chinese American respondents and 28 percent of African Americans believe the American Dream is disappearing. Notably, Caucasian respondents held more negative views than any other ethnic group: Forty-two percent believe the American Dream is disappearing.

Women are less likely than men to have estimated how much savings they will need (55% vs 67%) in retirement, but when a plan is developed, they tend to stick with it more than their male counterparts

The State of the American Family research series highlights the ways in which American families are putting financial values into practice and how their perspectives are changing the way they manage and plan for their households' finances now and in the future.
Topics covered include:

  • Family dynamics including an understanding of how parents define "family"
  • Perceptions of the American Dream
  • Debt
  • Saving for college
  • Planning for retirement
  • Planning for long-term care or caregiving
  • Financial literacy or the use of financial professionals

Over the past few years, the study has shown that American families have become much more involved with their finances and have expressed a higher level of financial satisfaction as a result. This positive momentum, coupled with improved market conditions, gives Americans the opportunity to take greater control over their futures and focus on those people and activities that matter most to them.

Five Earring Trends for 2014

Five Earring Trends for 2014

A new year brings new fashion trends. Jewelry accessories follow suit as new design concepts and colors come onto the scene. Jewelry designers like Chan Luu have debuted some exciting new styles and trends for earrings in particular including blue hues, yellow gold, minimalist jewels, geometric shapes, and stud earrings.

1. Blue Hues

Beautiful blues such as topaz, sapphire, turquoise and tanzanite have continued to have a large
presence in jewelry this year. This eye-catching color in earrings draws attention toward the face and
can beautifully complement your clothing and other accessories.

2. Yellow Gold

The classic, regal look of yellow gold has made a comeback. Earrings made from this precious metal can be worn with almost anything, making yellow gold a very versatile commodity. They can be dressed up with evening wear or worn casually with jeans and a fashion top. They can be embellished with jewels or stones to add color or visual interest. Whether in the form of a hoop or dangle earring, yellow gold is a fashionable look this year.

3. Minimalist Jewels

Some ear jewelry can be ornate and intricate—and they are beautiful! That being said, simple and
understated jewelry designs are appealing as well. A fashion trend emerging this year is a minimalist
approach to earring design. Clean lines and sleek silhouettes characterize this jewelry trend. Some
examples of this type of earring accessory are the following:

 Jewel or stone studs
 Simple metal shape studs (e.g. heart, circle, letter, etc)
 Small hoops
 Small pendants

Minimalist jewelry is effortless to wear; they complement any outfit easily as they blend inconspicuously into any look.

4. Geometric Shapes

Bold patterns have arrived and made a big impression in the fashion industry. Statement earrings now
embrace these geometric (and often colorful) accents. Beads and jewels in earrings follow geometric patterns of pyramids, circles, and squares. Arrangements of black and white stones in accessories are
becoming very popular. Also in-trend is tribal inspired jewelry with earthy green, red, and neutral tones.
These pieces are often striking and add style to your look.

5. Simple Studs

Studs are popular for many reasons. They are easy and comfortable to wear. They are extremely
versatile; they can be worn for all kinds of occasions—from going to class to getting married, and
everywhere in between! They are also often budget-friendly, making these fashion must-haves
accessible to many. In addition to these attractive features, studs have developed their own jewelry
culture.
You can buy studs of almost any color, shape, design or size. Because they are available in so
many varieties, the studs you choose to wear can make a statement about who you are. You can make
statements about your personality, your political beliefs, your lifestyle, your marital status, your favorite interests, hobbies, and colors. The list can go on and on. Studs are a definite fashion “go” this year.

Fresh jewelry styles have arrived for the New Year. You can give your wardrobe a lift with earrings that follow these fashion trends. Whether with striking blue hues or understated designs, geometric shapes or yellow gold bling, the accessories you choose can complement your style and update your look.
