Interview With JB Salsbury in Fighting To Forget

I'm so excited that I get to share an interview with you from the author of Fighting To Forget, JB Salsbury.

It's always so nice to learn more about the writer of the books we read and love.

I wish it was a live video, but this will work for now. If you want to more you can always connect and interact with the author below.
FightingtoForget

Who is your favorite author?
Oh wow! I’m not sure I have just one. There are so many that I love for different reasons. Kristen Ashley writes the best alpha males I’ve ever read. J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series have some of the most unique voices in romance. CJ Roberts writes the best dark romance… I could go on and on. There are just too many amazing authors out there to pick just one.

Who is your favorite character in your books so far and why?
Blake “The Snake” Daniels. He’s the mouthiest of the bunch and for me he was the easiest to write. I had no boundaries when it came to his dialogue or internal thoughts. He just lets loose when and where he pleases without a single thought to the repercussions. I kinda dig that about him.

3. Fiction writing is a creative endeavor and assuming you have experienced "writer's block," do you have ways of getting your creative juices flowing again?
Music. It’s always been music for me. When I’m stuck in a scene I’ll pop on my earbuds and clean the house. Almost all my best ideas have come from those moments when my body is busy and my mind is lost in a good song.

Are any of your characters or stories based on actual events or real people? If not, how do you come up with your story lines?
I get a lot of inspiration from real life situations and then spin them into my fictional world. I take issues like prostitution, marital rape, and child abuse and then apply them to my characters.

A lot of my characters are based on real people. All of my heroes carry a trait or two of my husband, the heroines often have traits that I pull from my friends, my family, or even myself.

As far as the storylines, I don’t necessarily go looking for them as much as they find me. It sounds crazy, but the characters come to me first and then they tell me their story. No, I’m not psychotic. …Ok, maybe I am.

5. What technology do you use for writing?
I just flop down somewhere comfy with my handy dandy MacBook Air. I’m old school and use word, but I’m going to try Scrivner for this next book. Maybe. If I can figure it out.

6. What's a typical working day like for you? When and where do you write? Do you set a daily writing goal?
I’m a stay at home mom so I write when my kids are at school and then again after they go to bed. Like I said, I flop anywhere comfortable to write, the couch, my bed, the kitchen table, and very seldom, my desk.

I don’t set daily word count goals unless I’m up against a deadline. I try to make it as easy and stress free as possible because it’s better for the creative process, but if I have an editor that’s expecting something from me than I make sure I get enough words in before I go to bed.

7. What d'you want to be when you grow up? Was being an author your first love?
No. I never thought I’d write books. I wanted to be a journalist and write short punchy articles about breaking news, but that’s a hard career to pursue with a growing family. It wasn’t until I started reading romance about five years ago that I thought I’d give writing it a try. Now I’m addicted.

Thanks for being involved in the blog tour and for having me on your page. :D J.B.

Ooh can you believe it! She mentions the BDB! I love those books!

And y'all know how much I love music! It's my Monday, my coffee, my aliveness :) It really does work. There is even scientific proof y'all!

Thank you so much JB for sharing your time with me. I look forward to more interaction and more books!

Write Your Story On My Heart Despicable Me - #Music

I'm really not having a bad day, well...

However we just got to see this movie again and we just love it. One of my favorite part is when he greeted the neighbor with the dog.

And yes of course most times I just want to have my own way. Or better yet, be able to stand up better for myself.

Whatever way, I prefer allowing God to handle my heart. But hey, kids are kids right.

Have a fun Monday! Watch the movie if you haven't.

HP 2000-2d62NR 15.6" Laptop Computer + 1 Year Insurance #Giveaway

We had to take our old computer offline. I'm waiting for my husband to figure out what to do with it. It's old and Microsoft will no longer make updates for it. We will have to upgrade and because it's an old beast, we aren't certain if the system can contain Windows 7. We know it cannot take Windows 8 at all.

And because of the threat of viruses and other attacks, we decided to take it offline until we can afford to replace it.

I have a laptop, it's not behaving nice, but I try to be patient with it. After all I worked hard to save up and buy it.

I would love to own another, better one.
I've had HP computers and I think they are good and solid, so I wouldn't mind owning another one.

I Want To Do Yoga Too #Giveaway

I want to love exercise, but I admit I love the idea of doing it and so I don't always get it done every day. I do put in some heart pumping a couple times a week though, but I do need to be more discipline. I think I'd be way more motivated if I had a friend or group of gals to do it with.

However I understand that I need it for my health and I will do it whenever I can, even for just 30 minutes. And maybe someday I'll behave enough to try yoga
Do you exercise at home or in the gym? Do you yoga?

Since we are on our Easter break, I've been inviting the kids to exercise with me. I find it weird that they seem so full of energy and yet puffed at a little exercise :) Makes me feel rather young I must admit.

Do you exercise with your kids?

Do you exercise in any form? Do you play or imagine? Do your kids?
Albert Einstein once said, " Logic will take you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere."

Award winning author, Carole P. Roman loves to write children's books and loves that children imagine and play the way they do. Her I Want To Do Yoga Too book was born out of  her own love of yoga.

Carole P. Roman is wanting your children to learn a little yoga and maybe "stretch" their imaginations too. You might even have some fun right along with them . Carole P. Roman is  giving  to 3 winners a copy of  her book, I Want to Do Yoga Too and kid's yoga mat. That is right, THREE WINNERS!

winner's colors may vary

The Devil's Breath by Emily Kimelman - Excerpt

The Devil's Breath Excerpt
The-Devils-Breath-digital-cover
Blue left my side and I felt a chill where the dog's warmth usually touched me, against the scar on my thigh. I watched him move quickly but quietly across the room until he stood at the end of the hall with a clear view to the front door. Hugh followed my gaze and in the silence I heard footsteps approaching.

Blue's hackles raised off his shoulder and back, changing his appearance from something slick and powerful to a wooly, gigantic beast. A sound at the door and his lips pulled back from sharp, bone white canines. As I heard the doorknob turn Blue growled in a pitch so low it was almost just a vibration humming through the air.

The whoosh of the door opening was quickly followed by an "Oh shit" and the door slamming.
"That's my friend," Hugh said, pointing at the door.

Hugh's phone rang and he grabbed it up off the counter, hitting the speaker button. "Santiago, I'm sorry-"
"Oh thank Jesus, you're okay. Hugh," the speaker took a quick breath, "I don't know how to tell you this. But," he paused for a moment and then blurted out, "there is some kind of wolf in your house. It may be a zombie. I don't know. Thing is scary!"

Hugh motioned at Blue, waving his arm, signaling for me to do something. "Blue," I said, "it's okay." He turned and looked at me, lowering his lips and deflating his hackles. They remained a bit puffed but they would smooth soon. "Come." Blue hurried to my side, his tail wagging, looking the picture of a normal, happy, giant, zombie wolf.

Do you do community projects with your family? - Mission Possible 2014

Do you do community projects with your family?

This April and every other April, our church has a huge community wide mission possible. We do missions all the time, but April is the time when everybody from our church get involve all at the SAME time!
It's an awesome experience to love through our church.

We sign up and choose what project we want to work with in the community and there are ones that we can take our children along.
It's on a Saturday, so it's perfect for everyone to be involved.

On the specified day, we all meet at our church for a light breakfast, prayer and to meet our group.

We disperse into the wide community all over the city to do projects and love on people.

The kids and I went to CUPS this year. We did our best at working hard and helping with our assigned areas.
I always want to give 100% and ten if needed.

We break for lunch (packed by our church members for each worker), get some time to mingle and work some more until it's time to leave.

The good thing about working/helping in most of these places is that you can always go back whenever you want and volunteer.

I'm glad our family takes part in these projects. I want my kids to understand how important it is to give back to the community.

We almost didn't go.
I felt afraid that I wouldn't know where to go or that there wouldn't be a good fit for the kids. Which was just odd since there are always project that works great for the kids in our missions.
The fear was irrational.

Then the last Sunday I went to church and figured I'd look and see if anything was left that would allow for me and the kids.

Turns out the very last three spots were wide open and the project were for families with young kids.

How is that even possible.

We signed up and just like that, all the fear left.

Isn't God good.

We had a great time working with this group and I'm so glad we were able to serve.

It was a great day to share the love of Jesus through serving. We had over 250 members serving all over the community!

One day, maybe I'll be able to go on an overseas mission too.

Do you do community projects with your family?

Mission Possible is Trinity's annual day of serving our community. We reach out and help hundreds up people through hands-on service across our community.

Apple Family Love and Apple Facts

I love fruits. And I'm so glad when I can afford to get them for my family.

Do you eat Apples?
Which ones are your favorite?
Do your children eat fruits?

I prefer we eat as healthy as possible. Of course that would mean moving to my country for at least 7 years, but hey, you work with what you have right.

In my country, food comes from ground to table without all the preservatives and sprays that require bio suits and all that.

Let's talk apples; my daughter loves the fruits. She'll eat them continuously if you let her! And she wants them whole! I like her style.
My son, however, wants his peeled and sliced! Wut! (Should I be concerned for his wife?) :)

I don't mind, but I do have to remind them both about portions, and also leaving some for other days during the week that we wont be purchasing groceries.

We've tried quite a few different varieties and I think I prefer the golden delicious. I know for a fact that the kids do not like the granny smiths :)

While the kids and I love and eat the apples. My daughter is the apple lover.

Apple facts:
  • The crabapple is the only apple native to North America.
  • Apples come in all shades of reds, greens, and yellows.
  • Apple trees take four to five years to produce their first fruit.
  • Most apples are still picked by hand in the fall.
  • Apple varieties range in size from a little larger than a cherry to as large as a grapefruit.
  • Apples are a member of the rose family.
  • World's top apple producers are China, United States, Turkey, Poland and Italy.
  • Apples ripen six to ten times faster at room temperature than if they were refrigerated.
  • Don't peel your apple. Two-thirds of the fiber and lots of antioxidants are found in the peel. Antioxidants help to reduce damage to cells, which can trigger some diseases.
  • Many apples after harvesting and cleaning have commercial grade wax applied. Waxes are made from natural ingredients.

Thriving And Doing What I like - #Music

Today was a good day. Service was good. We always learn something new about Christ and even better when we are together. I gave them a dollar each for the offering plate. I want them to learn about that too.

Did y'all have a good Easter?

I hope you did!
Casting Crowns
Ours was simple and okay. As I write, my kids are watching HOP and eating ice cream treats.

Me: I'm doing laundry and getting read to do more hair.

Our Nail Moon gave us a theme for today: Theme is "little bit country & a little bit rock & roll!
Here in this worn and weary land
Where many a dream has died
Like a tree planted by the water
We never will run dry

So living water flowing through
God, we thirst for more of You
Fill our hearts and flood our souls with one desire

Just to know You and to make You known
We lift Your name on high
Shine like the sun, make darkness run and hide
We know we were made for so much more than ordinary lives
It's time for us to more than just survive
We were made to thrive

Into Your word, we're digging deep
To know our Father's heart
Into the world, we're reaching out
To show them who You are

Joy unspeakable, faith unsinkable
Love unstoppable, anything is possible

And the ever adorable Blake is singing What I like :) So romantic
