#Music On The Conga Line And Fun With My Little Loves - 4Ms

Today was a lovely Saturday. My son had his first soccer game.

The teams ended 1-1

It was evenly matched but my son's team had the ball down at the opponents end most of the game.
He met old friends on both sides of the teams. It's quite the thing.

The day was a nice hot, sunny day with just the right cool of breeze and Louisiana doesn't get breeze!...well unless it's for a storm.

We ran to the library to clean it out and came home, rode bicycles outside for awhile and then played some football.

I love hanging out with my kids. I love hearing their laughter.

So I hope for more days like this.  But it's definitely no more sleeping in Saturdays now that soccer season is here.

Let's have a great week y'all!

Our spotlight dancer today is Mike Golch. Congratulations Mike! And his themes is "Dance Music"

Breakfast #WithMalala - He Named Me Malala

I remember when I first heard about this girl Malala. I was intrigued. So I rented the book from our library. I read it and found it quite inspiring.
It's so refreshing to see a young girl care for people outside of her immediate circle.

Malala is definitely a young heroine. I'm glad her story is told so that many can see that even children can effect positive changes and make a difference in the lives of others.

Will you watch He Named Me Malala on February 29th?
Does your family like documentaries?
Are you active in your community in any way?

The DVD Documentary:

While reading the book, there were photos of Malala and her family throughout the pages. However, watching the documentary and seeing the clips with her and her family, somehow makes her come alive in a personal way.
I didn't see much or even remember seeing her on the news, when she was shot, so it was nice to see her laughing and playing with her family.

This documentary also makes me turn my mind to my father. Malala has a one of a kind father. A father who saw her heart. Who loved her dearly and encouraged her to fly.
I wish just to see my father's face.

If every father should care so much for their daughters....their children. How much more growth and positive livelihoods we would all enjoy in our societies. .

It is amazing that in this year 2016, we have women and girls still striving and fighting for education. In this one clip they showed from Kenya, none of the children in that school had a parent who was educated. And what a wonderful thing for these parents to see the value of educating their own child. Even if it stops at grades 9 or 10!

Malala's father love education so much that he started his own school! What a contribution to the world! Teachers are like springs, they just go on and on with whatever work they began in a child.

We can all see why education is so important. Trust me, even the guys who don't want people educated knows why. Without education, a mind can be controlled in any way for good or evil.

So many seems surprised when Mullah Fahzullah came to the Swat Valley, where Malala used to live, that he was peaceful and being nice. Of course he was. That is how dictatorship begins...or at least one way! Wolves to the slaughter!

"Education was a threat to them. Education gives you the power to question things. To Challenge things. To be Independent." - Malala's Father

Just imagine hearing bombings and gunfire all the time. That can make you live in survival mode.
I remember in my country how often you'd hear gunshots from gang members and police shootouts. I grew up in that and never can stand the sound of a car back-firing or even fireworks.
The people of Afghanistan living through that daily, must give cause for terrible anxiety each day!

If Malala goes back to Swat, she'll be shot. They have threatened to do so. But all she wants to do is to go back to see her home....just once.
So she feels being in England is maybe just for a time....

I enjoyed watching the documentary. It was straightforward and not too graphic. I haven't watched it as yet with my children, but I think it will be alright for them to see it.

He Named Me Malala
Global Broadcast of He Named Me Malala
Monday, February 29th

About the Movie:
HE NAMED ME MALALA is an intimate portrait of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai, who was targeted by the Taliban and severely wounded by a gunshot when returning home on her school bus in Pakistan’s Swat Valley. The then 15-year-old was singled out, along with her father, for advocating for girls’ education, and the attack on her sparked an outcry from supporters around the world. She miraculously survived and is now a leading campaigner for girls’ education globally as co-founder of the Malala Fund.

Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth, Waiting for Superman) shows us how Malala, her father Zia and her family are committed to fighting for education for all girls worldwide. The film gives us an inside glimpse into this extraordinary young girl’s life – from her close relationship with her father who inspired her love for education, to her impassioned speeches at the UN, to her everyday life with her parents and brothers.

Guggenheim makes use of beautiful animated paintings to depict the Malala of lore, after whom the famous teen is named, imbuing her life with a sense of manifest destiny.

Through interviews with Malala, we get to know her as a relatable, three-dimensional figure preoccupied with typical concerns ("will I make friends with the girls at my new school?") and larger global worries ("will I ever see my country again in peace?") It's both humanizing and inspiring. Bravo!

Driving Again On The Motown Train As Bullies Fall Off - #Music

I can drive again and with my tummy pillow I've been going and going. Seriously what did they do without me when I was down?

I had put both my children on the school bus while I was unable to drive. Turns out my son is doing okay on the bus, but my daughter is having a hard time with the other little/big bullies on the bus.

Apparently there is a boy on the bus or two who sits in the back and curses a lot.

My daughter came home every day lamenting how sad she is about being on the school bus.

The Friday that I went to the doctor and he told me I was healing well and could drive again, she came home and said "Mom one boy on the school bus called me a bad name. I don't know what it means, but I know it's bad. And he curses a lot. "

I eventually got her to repeat what was said, and the boy had called her a 'ho'

If y'all can remember how hard I fought for her being bullied on the bus a few years before. This new one just broke my heart.

I told her that we would pray for this boy. She said she already did. Then I suggest we forgive him. And that I will also write a letter to the school and the bus driver.
Nothing harsh, just a letter telling them what happened and to be aware.

It was a Friday.

I drove her to school Monday and have been ever since. I can she is much happier. I didn't write the letter. I think it's moot. But these days, there is no such thing as ignoring these kids that will continue to terrorize your child on the bus, playground, school halls or anywhere else.

My 8 year old child should not have to deal with this during any part of the school session.

Sigh.

I'm sure she will be on the school bus again sometime, but I'll always be here to fight for her.

Welcome to our Monday Music train hop fun.

Our Spotlight Dancer is: Linda Cadose who has chosen the theme Motown Music. It can be bands or singers. Just and FYI she is featuring Stevie Wonder.

Pay It Forward With A Dear Friend - God Moves The Pieces

On January 27th, I had just left my son's school where they had an Academic breakfast to honor the 5th and 6th graders who did great in school. My son had made honor roll.

I ran to the store to grab some much needed items that I'd need after my surgery on January 28th.
I remember as I ran into Target, I was marking the door I went in, so that I'd come out the very same way, since Target doesn't have those number things on the lots.

However, I came out on the total opposite side of where I thought I was coming out! I said to myself " Colette you silly girl! Now you'll have to walk all the way to the other side to find your vehicle!"

As I"m saying this out loud to myself, I see in front of me, a group of people in black suits standing around. The lady of the group then said hello to me and ask me to stop for a bit. I thought she heard me talking to myself and thought I was speaking to her.

We met and she then began to share about the program they are doing in our local community called the Pay It Forward, where they challenge someone to find someone to give $500 to, who really need it.

By this time, I'm nervous and there is a camera in my face and wow, that's new and weird.

We introduced. And of course I knew the perfect person!

She was a friend who had just lost her baby two days before Christmas!

I had been thinking of how best to help and support her.

I remember leaving Christmas undone to rush to the hospital to be with her during her heartbreaking time.

I knew she needed the financial help.

I was sooo happy to help.

I told the news crew about her and we called her home and then traveled to see her. She had NOOOO idea that I was bringing the crew. She was so surprised and oh the emotions.

I was so happy for her. I was overcome with tears and emotions and I was shaking like a leave, maybe the cold weather had something to do with that too, but it was such a live situation. No rehearsal.

She received $500.

I know she will put it to good use.

It's amazing how God order the days and create such a wonderful blessing.

That was just a day before I went into the hospital for my surgery.

It was quite a long interview, but of course they have to consice for the tv segment.

The program aired on February 10

6 Last-Minute Valentine’s Day Spending Hacks

What is one thing you desire for your Valentines Day?

With just a few days left to plan a romantic Valentine's Day celebration, you may be scrambling to secure reservations at a new restaurant in town or find the perfect piece of bling to woo your honey. Regardless of what you're planning to do or buy, it's important to keep costs in mind before you blow your budget.

According to the National Retail Federation's Valentine's Day Consumer Spending Survey, the average person will spend $142.31 on candy, flowers, apparel and more, with total spending expected to reach $18.9 billion. What's more, men will spend nearly $190 on Valentine's Day gifts and festivities this year, nearly double the $97 women plan to spend.

If roses, jewelry, spa treatments and a night out is on your agenda, consider these six Valentine's Day spending hacks to show both your beau and your budget some love.

1. Look beyond roses from the florist.
While roses are considered the traditional symbol of love and romance, prices on these red and pink favorites nearly double on Valentine's Day. You'll save money by opting for a mixed spring bouquet of other pretty petals that look just as beautiful and will even stand out more for originality. Head over to a grocery store for pre-arranged bouquets for nearly 30-percent less than the local florist.

2. Save on sweets by waiting, or make your own.
If you can put it off, wait to pick up candy and chocolate on Feb. 14 when most stores will discount the leftover goods. If you have time, consider baking your own sweets. From heart-shaped rice crispy treats to cherry-flavored cupcakes to chocolate-covered strawberries, your honey will appreciate the extra effort you put into making this special gift!

3. Buy bling online.
Shopping online for jewelry gives you access to a bigger selection and often better prices. Plus, many e-stores will be offering free delivery or discounted rush service to ensure you get the gift in time. What's more, many of these sites have coupon codes for extra savings which can be found on sites like CouponSherpa.com. For example, you can save 25% off at Blue Nile, $25 off plus free shipping with a Kay Jewelers coupon code, or an extra 15% off sale jewelry from Macy's.

4. Pick up discount spa gift cards.
A couples' massage is a nice treat for you and your sweetheart but expect inflated prices this weekend. Before you book, check sites like Gift Card Granny for discounted e-gift cards to SpaFinder where you can save over 22 percent. Warehouse stores like Costco also sell gift cards to the online spa-finder service at a discount, offering $100 worth of e-gift cards for just $80.

5. Head to the dollar store.
Your local dollar store is the perfect place to pick up inexpensive greeting cards (50 cents versus $5 or more), gift wrap and even a vase for flowers. You're looking at saving over 70% without compromising on your romantic sentiment. Remember, it's what you write in the card that matters most anyway!

6. Plan a free date.
Valentine's Day shouldn't be based on how fancy of a restaurant you go to or how much money you throw down. It's all about spending quality time together, which you can do in a variety of ways for little cost. In fact, some of the most intimate dates are free! Check out these 12 frugal date ideas and make your plans now.

Learn Piano Online - The Future Of Music Education With Hoffman Academy

Do you play any instruments? Which do you love best?

I would love to learn the piano and guitar. That's been my desire since I was a child. And I really want my children to learn also.

Are you looking for a piano teacher? Meet Mr. Hoffman!

Joseph Hoffman has always wanted one thing, for more people to be able to learn music and to love it while they're learning. He spent years developing his own comprehensive piano method based on research in early childhood education and great music teaching methods like Suzuki and Kodaly. After receiving his master's degree in music and founding a very successful music academy in Portland, Oregon, he wanted to find a way to teach music to children whose families might not be able to afford private music lessons, or who might live far away from a piano teacher.

Five years ago, Joseph and his wife Kelly came up with the idea to create piano video lessons and post them online, for free, so that anyone in the world could learn piano with the Hoffman Method. To support their project, they sold downloadable lesson materials, like sheet music and audio files, to accompany the video lessons. Mr. Hoffman's video lessons now have over 5 million views, with thousands of students watching lessons every day. But he's not done yet.

Right now, Mr. Hoffman has 120 piano video lessons online. He wants to double that number in the next 16 months, then continue to make more. His ultimate goal is to make Hoffman Academy a complete piano learning program, so that a student who completes all the lessons would be ready to major in music at any university and become a professional musician.

The Hoffman Academy team is also working on building a new, interactive, subscription-based website that will include music learning games and online progress tracking. Video lessons alone can't give personalized feedback, but the new Hoffman Academy will be able to guide students through developing their skills in rhythm, staff reading, music theory, and ear training, and make learning the piano even more fun and engaging.

In order to fund these projects, Mr. Hoffman is running a Kickstarter campaign through the month of February. Campaign backers can try out the new Hoffman Academy premium subscription for themselves at a great discount. Or, you can contribute to our campaign and fund a Hoffman Academy premium subscription scholarship for a child in need. Come on over and check it out!

Do you believe in music education for everyone? Contribute to our Kickstarter and help make it happen. Visit our Kickstarter page to learn more.

Happy Chasing Happy - An Aimless High To Happiness

This candid, autobiographical book tells of MMA fighter and accomplished champion Jerome Jay Isip's journey to find his identity and his own version of "happy" in early adulthood through self-destructive means like alcohol, a myriad of drugs, and other risky behavior, and how he pulled himself back from the edge of the abyss, finding the courage to live a life of clarity and purpose after discovering what true, lasting happiness in life is all about.

Giving Your Children Wings: Without Losing Yours #Book Tour

Starting Your Day Off on the Right Foot

How does a typical morning start for you? Over the years, I discovered the secret to starting my day off on the right foot. I get up at least an hour before my children get up. Some mornings, I get up two hours before my children. This allows me to do my morning routine and have a little quiet time before the children are up and need my attention. Of course, when I had babies and toddlers in the house, I did not get up that much earlier that they did. In those years, I tried to get up 15 minutes before they did. This gave me time to go to the bathroom and have a cup of coffee. Most of us have had the experience of barely being able to go to the bathroom alone once we have children, and it’s nice to not have little ones banging on the bathroom door or sticking their hands under the door. Now, I do have to go to bed at a decent hour if I want to get up before the children get up. If I am staying up until midnight, it is harder to get up before the children get up.

What do I do with my early morning time before the children get up? My morning routine is important to me. I like to have time to eat my breakfast and drink my coffee and have my quiet time. Then, I will do some exercising. Exercise DVD’s and online videos are awesome for early morning workouts. Having a treadmill or elliptical machine in the basement or garage also makes a great way to work out before the children are out of bed. After I exercise, I get my shower and start a load of laundry. Then, it’s time to wake the children up and start their breakfast. Then we are all ready to start school after their morning routine and breakfast time.

While I have used this schedule for our homeschool, it is also applicable for those who work outside of the home and have children to get ready for school. By starting the night before with laying out clothes and putting things needed near the front door, you can have a smoother exit from the house. You will

also want to get up before your children, but you might only get up 30 minutes to an hour before them to get your morning routine accomplished before you get them out of bed.
