Happy Memorial Day.
This day came so fast and it's also Pinecove Camp In The City for our Church!
I just dropped my daughter off for her first day of camp. She is so very blessed. We couldn't pay for camp this year and the church offered to give her a full scholarship. I hope when we do get on our feet again, we'll have the pleasure of sponsoring a child or more.
I can't wait to hear all about her camp!
My mom, she is having a rough time of it with family who's supposed to love her. Please keep her in prayers.
What are your thoughts on Fortnite? My son wants to play it and I am trying to find research on what kind of game it is. He's touting it as a good one because all his friends have it, but I don't teach them to follow friends or trends. Hence I'd love some live feedback.
Thanks y'all for prayers. I appreciate it! Happy Memorial Day!
Aloha

I have never heard that tune with Conway Twitty & Loretta Lynn. That was definitely beautiful. I really enjoyed that girlfriend. Thank you for sharing. We're goin' on a picnic & we haven't been on one in forever, but it's truly HOT out so I'm sure it won't be an all day affair. BIG HUGS HAVE A GREAT FUN & SAFE DAY! IT'S SO NICE TO HAVE YOU BACK HOME GIRLFRIEND! I GAVE MY THANKS TO THE LORD FOR TAKING CARE OF MY BESTEST BUDDY! WOO HOO BIG HUGS & PRAYERS FOR YOUR MOMMY & YOU & YOUR FAMILY That you get on your feet quickly!
ReplyDeleteThank you for praying for me Dolly. God bless you.
DeleteLoretta Lynn... now, that's country music! Beautiful tribute.
ReplyDeleteShe is good :)
DeleteBeautiful song. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteLoretta Lynn...I didn't know that song, either. She is pure country and so was that song. Thinking of your Mom and you this morning.
ReplyDeleteThank you Alana.
DeleteColette,
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful your daughter got a full scholarship to attend summer camp. I hope she has lots of fun. I do not know anything about the video game Fortnite but I do understand your concerns. Many of these games are not only violent but quite realistic. I think it causes young people to become numb and lose sight taking game life into real life. I remember Loretta Lynn doing this song. She's really young in this video clip. What a lovely lady! She really was pure country. Thanks for sharing and have a great week, my friend!
Oh she had such fun! So thankful for our church family.
DeleteThank you Cathy!
Hi Colette,
ReplyDeleteHope your daughter has fun at camp. That's always an exciting time for a child.
Great song with Loretta Lynn!
Hope you have a good rest of the week,
Michele at Angels Bark
Thank you Michelle,
DeleteThat's why I wanted her to have this experience and so glad she got to.
Congratulations to your daughter for getting the scholarship! That's great! My neighbor told me that Cal Tech has math summer school classes or "summer camp," but I'm not sure if there is a cost. I haven't had the chance to look it up, yet, but her kids loved it when they were younger.
ReplyDeleteI understand your concerns about Fortnite. My kids are 14 and 12. They talk about that game so much that I tend to tune them out. My son had a school picnic and he said that a lot of the boys mainly played Fortnite on their phones. I'm glad he chose to run around and play with his friends instead.
The look of it is not realistic. It's more cartoony, but it is a shooter game. They get more points if they get a headshot which is what is the most concerning. However, when you compare it to Mortal Kombat which was a popular game in the 80s, it's much less violent. In Fortnite there is no blood splatter or gore. We don't allow our kids to play Mortal Kombat although my husband did play that game when he was a kid. We do let our kids play Fortnite, though. I haven't seen any changes in their behavior.
You know your son better than anyone, so if you think it would change him then maybe you can wait until he's older. PG-13 movies have the same amount of violence, in my opinion. Especially superhero movies. If you do a search and type in "Fortnite trailer" you can see an example of the game.
I think it's popular because you can play it on phones, PC, or Xbox.
I hope this helps.
Have a good day!
Thank you Kimberly. I appreciate your thoughts.
DeleteI am just trying to find a good balance as a mom.
So very cool your daughter got a scholarship to go to camp! I hope she has an amazing time! Will definitely keep you mom in my thoughts and prayers.
ReplyDeleteLove the song choice - it's new to me, so thanks for the introduction! :)

DeleteAnd she did indeed have a great time!
