The time does go by fast. We should definitely document or we so easily forget.
This week was the big EOC test for my son. He studied and was already with a certain dread because of what the teachers tell them about failing. It was hard to soften the blow with the truth that he studying, doing his best with confidence and not fear is all that matters because he can always learn what he doesn't know. I tried. He seems to understand, but I could tell that he was still nervous.
We prayed and I almost told him that most of what we cram and study for is never on the test anyway, but I held my tongue. I didn't want him more worried.
He came home after testing to tell me that most of what he studied wasn't even on the test! And he felt that he has done well. We laughed. I told him that I didn't want to tell him about the studying thing and cause him to worry :)
He then said his teacher Mrs. Lachotia had promised that if anyone got a perfect score, she'd shave her head bald (um, she is a beautiful redhead in her 50s!). Apparently, they had much fun with her because one student told her that if it does happen, in Summer, she should say one day "oh it's so hot!" and then pull the wig off in class! :D You can imagine the howling! Some teachers are great. And then there are the others. It seems laughter makes them unhappy.
Then my sweet boy says to me, but mom, it's not over, I can't rest as yet because the scores haven't yet come out. I said 'oh no, honey boy, it's all done with. You did your best and that is all that matters.
I love that he shares his days with me. He is ...will be 14 in just a few days!!!! I'm so blessed to have a son with such a good character up to this point and I pray that it will continue.
