Oh what a busy week!
Most important: My daughter had a project for the fire department. It's about smoke alarms and home safety. Not exactly the title, but I can't remember it line for line right now.
We watched safety videos about how smoke alarms can save your lives.
We went over our escape plan if something should happen and our rendezvous point.
Then I decided to test the smoke alarms with her, so she can hear how they would/should sound.
Deafening Silence.
Sooooooooooooooo we could have died many times over.
Anyway, I bought batteries for the alarms. And the husband put them in and the kids heard how the alarms are supposed to sound.
Sad thing is that, since we moved into this home, I've wanted to test the smoke alarms. I should have followed my instincts.
Those instincts have been with me all these years and I never followed up. I should be ashamed, but I'm glad now it's rectified.
Not only that, but the person we purchased the house from was a chain smoker, so much so that the walls are stained in smoke gunk. Oh how we scrubbed when we first moved in!
Anyway. Our alarms are healthy again and I need to purchase a new one for one of the rooms. It's feebly beeps and continuous beeps when the battery was replaced, means a cry for change/help.
I'll have to follow the motto of '

Steve you always make me giggle with your words :)
DeleteLove how you infused music with your daughters school project. Nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you Patrick.
DeleteIt worked out nicely! ;)
Brilliant way to get an important message across. Unfortunately, I can not hear them.
ReplyDeleteOh sad. Maybe try youtube.
DeleteThanks Naila.
I have absolute faith in my smoke alarm....because it goes off every single time I cook dinner! LOL
ReplyDeletethat's how everyone knows dinner is ready ;)
perhaps it's a tad sensitive?
Love Natalie's voice. Her song "Torn" is still one of my all time faves.
Hahaha Rory, I hope she is not complaining about dinner eh :)
DeleteYes Torn is quite the fave for me too.
We test ours. You want to be fast in getting out if there's a fire, that's for sure, and an alarm is a big way to help! Glad you got new batteries in. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosey.
DeleteI"m so glad we have them too. And also that the kids are learning more about how important this all is.
Great musical tie-in to a lesson taught. This is the time of year everyone should change their smoke alarm batteries. That said, I love the song "Smoke". Thanks for the dance and I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThank you Belle.
DeleteIt is true, it is almost the time of year :)
Yes. You want to make sure your smoke alarms are working.

I'm so glad it's remedied Joyce :)
DeleteAs someone who nearly died while trapped in a house fire, having working smoke alarms is a must. I almost died from not having them-dont make that mistake.
ReplyDeleteOh NO!
DeleteThank you for sharing Jaredamy.
I'm so glad you are here!
Yes, Natalie Imbruglia Exquisite!
ReplyDeleteShe does have that voice. :)
DeleteThank you Leovi
Thank you very much for everything Colette!
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome :)
DeleteWorking smoke alarms are very important. Our fire department has a note on their board saying to check your batteries. People have a tendency to forget about the alarms therefore forgetting to check the batteries.
ReplyDeleteDon't think I'll forget again at all. :)
DeleteCallie, Naila is very hard of hearing she wears a hearing aide I believe or is almost deaf that's what it is. Due to my bad memory I forget why. She's such a sweetie she keeps trying. Did you ever see her videos for telling stories? You could put them on and let your kids sit and watch her. She's very good. Also, love your song choice. New song to me. Sorry for being so late. Many appointments this week.
ReplyDeleteOh I didn't know that Dolly.
DeleteI have seen some of her videos.
I think that is a great idea.
Thank you!
*HUGS*
Oh gosh, I haven't heard that song in so long. Love Natalie Imbruglia and love that song.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tami.
DeleteShe does have this lovely voice!
Glad you got the batteries in...
ReplyDeleteThat could be dangerous!
Very dangerous.
DeleteWish I had followed my gut.
Thanks Noelle
