Where's The Soul And The Music

I know that I haven't been around much lately. It's been hard, not much music in my soul of late and this depressing feeling can get a tad overwhelming when you feel so terribly alone and have no one to talk to/with except your children :)

I've been having to watch my thoughts because surely I used to wonder why parents celebrate drinking so much and here I am, hoping that I would at least like the taste of alcohol so that I could wet away my problems, at least for a little while. Life eh.

Oh I'm busy, I try to keep busy so that I don't have time to dwell on my life, but alas, there are times of no escaping, but if I look on it, it's not so bad is it? Surely it is not. So we'll go with that.

  1. Colette,

I understand that loneliness and having no one to talk to other than the children. It wasn't that DH wasn't there but he worked long days with a long commute, so by the time he got home then he was exhausted. Everything that weighed on me during the week I waited to share with him on the weekends but by that time I was reluctant because I wanted him to enjoy his off days free of worries. That was the wrong thing do but I didn't see any other way in those days. I talked often to God asking Him to help me with mood swings and the loneliness that I felt. Your time with your kids now is like a grain of sand in time. It'll pass by so fast you'll wonder what happened when your nest is empty. Embrace the moment for what it is looking for ways to make yourself happy despite what you don't have. This is easier said than done, but put all of your faith in the One who loves you best and He'll give you the strength to press forward each day. Penpalling helped a lot in those early years but now I find that blogging or keeping in touch with other on Facebook fills that void. Of course, now DH doesn't work out of town and we have lots more of one-on-one time so what once bothered me is gone. The house is quieter, emptier because my kids are grown and sometimes I catch myself wishing for those hectic, crazy days. Praying that you'll find the right ingrediants to making your life more pleasent. Hugs to you and as always it's wonderful seeing you on the dance floor!

  2. I think Cathy said it all. Know that you have sympathetic ears online and your faith will carry you through this rough part of your life. Thank you for choosing The Dock of the Bay; this is such a perfect song and performance.
